I only have first-hand experience with the APR, but I did research on others out there. in the end, I went with APR given the reviews and their long-standing reputation. I went with the 93 tune and it's a night and day change in power. and amazing value for ~$1k

if you intend to add catless DP's or you want the ability to change tunes for fueling on your own, APR won't be for you though.

Just be aware that any of the tunes will cause a TD1 for your car and powertrain warranty claims will no doubt not be approved.

Without a doubt! Sheeeesh, 2022 RS7?! I “personally” wouldn’t even make the jump given that that thing is probably just into the warranty phase. Believe APR has their way of holding the warranty issue down at an extra tag if you do decide to go their way. On the bright side, he did say “2022 //RS7” and if he owns it, I’m pretty sure that if he’s trying to play with a new toy, he has the means to back his inner-most desires! Head on out and play, playa’, head on out!! 🫡🫡🫡🫡 (I’d personally go with a i.E. tune rather than the APR, but that’s just me!)

I ran an APR Stage 1 for just about 3 months with their intake before going with a Uni Stage 2.

Seeing Uni's power delivery in stage 2, I should have gone with them for Stage 1. YMMV but you can't go wrong with either Stage 1 tune imo.

I was going to go with Unitronic but after seeing so many refused for warranty and flagged for TD1, I chickened out. My car is currently at the dealer for a faulty alternator (common issue with 2021 models), I was asked by my SA whether or not I had a tune because if I did, he said they would refuse the warranty work. Not a cheap fix so I'm glad I didn't go ahead with the tune.

Thanks for all of the input!
Think I’ll hold off on the tune for a while…it’s mighty tempting but voiding the warranty would be a nightmare!

I desperately want a tune but where I live I rarely go full throttle anyway and the stock car is not a slouch. Warranty issues keep my from pushing forward. I did tune a former 911 turbo and it really transformed the car. With the RS6 it’s not as bullet proof as the Porsches I’ve previously owned.

I’ve been running their stage 1 ECU and stage 2 TCU tunes on my B9 S5 to go along with the APR intercooler and couldn’t be happier. Only fallback thus far is the aggressive jerk I get (not sure at which gear shift but it’s gotta be somewhere around 5th to 6th) when I floor it and that kind of gets to me at times and makes me not even want to push it like that.

I’m curious as to how a tune would impact the alternator? Perhaps I’m just ignorant on all the ways a tune impacts engine performance, but it would seem to me that changing boost pressure, etc. would not impact an alternator in the slightest…

don't disagree. the issue is that you'd have to prove it in court against VW Group, and I wouldn't want to risk paying big attorney fees on top of the alternator in the event that I would lose. the risk/reward is asymmetric - very limited upside and very big downside.
