Selling my 1 of 54 Cactus Green 2001.5 B5 S4. ~144k miles. Livermore, CA.

6 speed manual transmission, AWD. California car its whole life. No codes or lights. Everything works. CA Smog certified. No rust anywhere. 2 keys included.

Original owner used as a daily driver in San Francisco, second owner lived in the bay as well, third was in the bay, and I’m the fourth owner also in the bay. Currently garage kept, battery tendered & driven off-highway once a week.

- Oil change 500 miles ago
- New cluster center display
- New ECS coil pack conversion kit ($300)
- New Firehawk Indy tires + alignment ~500 miles ago ($1000)
- New OEM LUK clutch / flywheel / slave / clutch fork / fluid flush 100 miles ago ($1800)
- New heater core ~500 miles ago, incl. coolant flush, AC recharge & new coolant temp sensor ($1600)

- Flush and fill rear diff
- Upgraded alcantara steering wheel
- Apple CarPlay Sony head unit installed professionally
- Big stack of receipts dating back to original owner

Original paint, except for the passenger rear quarter panel was repainted by the OG owner. I was told it was due to a bicyclist running into the vehicle and they fixed some scratches from this. Small imperfections on the body otherwise. Small ding on driver rear quarter. Light scrapes on front / rear bumpers from its original life in the city. Wheels have light rash as well.

Price is reflective of its California rust-free status, rarity and mostly stock condition. This car has never been tuned or tracked, and has always been garage kept in CA. Any after market parts used were either due to stock parts being unavailable or for better quality / handling, etc.

A clean, well taken care of example of an extremely rare color, with the right transmission, that lived all it's life in California, and is virtually bone stock? I suppose I'm biased but I would have thought there would be someone out there willing to pay closer to $20k for this.
Someone is going to get a timeless classic in a great color.

I started at $20k on FB but didn't make it very far. I have adjusted expectations due to market changes, so I hope someone sees the price and understands how fair it really is.

It turns out a lot of people want Stage 3 built cars, but in California with Smog getting more challenging, I prefer the mostly stock variety. Hope someone appreciates that and it goes to a good home.

Disagree. The one cactus avant (yes) that made it to bat fetched a fairly conservative number under OPs asking price. The other thing to keep in mind is the commenters treat you like shit, and most of em aren't even going to buy the car. The market is waning, more new cars are on lots, etc. Classics are weird value wise right now. Still fairly high.


You might get some crazy high bidders, so there's that.

@cactus_cars. Lol that cactus avant sold 5.5 years ago on BaT…completely different market and not even worth trying to compare prices. I sold my S4 on BaT 3 months ago, and overall had a great experience. I’ll agree about the commenters - some of them are hard to stomach, and it gets difficult to bite your tongue and play nice. It took a month for the listing to go live, but was well worth the wait. Buyer picked up my car literally the day after it sold with cashier’s check in hand. If BaT accepts your car, you aren’t going to get a higher price anywhere else. So I’d list no reserve and let it fly.

My Cactus is an S4 with 68k on it. I wouldn’t lower the price any more than you have. I wouldn’t let mine go for much under $20k. It would have to get me closer to WB sedan territory.
