    RS6 engine to S6 swap

Hi guys. I have a S6 with blown engine block. Can I swap to RS6/RS7 block, does it fit to S-tronic? Housing bolts, crankshaft splines? It’s a 2012 machine, can I use 2015+ block?

If budget allows I would slap the ZF in with it. DSG isnt worth the trouble trying to mate and potentially have issues later. Just my 2 cents though. As for using RS block on S6 head I am not sure. Hopefully someone can chime in

I’m 99% sure the heads are the same. I already have RS inlet, coolers, turbos, oil cooling etc, ~450 kW. S-tronic is nicely tuned and works good so far. Would consider swap to ZF when it blows :)

You will probably need ODIS or someone that has it to code the transmission to the engine. I havent seen a dsg put on an RS motor so i'm unsure but good luck with the build. I would ZF swap my trans too if my dsg ever goes bad

ZF would be better, no doubt. BUT, I already have fresh plates in DSG and it’s tuned for RS performance. It has some resource to be used before change. The only non-RS part under my hood is the engine shortblock. One cylinder wall has a crack in it. Would be logical to replace with RS shortblok - different crankshaft (stronger?), different pistons, different cylinder wall treatment (?). And much more offers on the market. So the question is - does it hook 1:1 to my S-tronic?

Look at what it will cost to swap the engine vs replace the entire car with a used S6. You might find it cheaper to just get a new to you car. Not sure of what the used car market is for your area of the world.

There would be no difference you will notice when swapping the RS6 motor in to the S6. They are externally identical and will bolt up just fine. You could swap either transmission to either and they will bolt up just fine.
