    Intake hose

I have a strange issue that I have never seen or heard of before. I have a silicone intake hose from ECS, and every so often it develops a perfectly evenly distributed mist of oil over it's entire surface, even on the underside of it. What's so strange is not just the perfectly uniform coverage of the mist, but that there's absolutely ZERO oil of any kind on ANYTHING else on the rest of the engine, including the area immediately around the intake hose or the clamps. Strangely enough, even the inside of the hose is oil free . I have the updated version of the Provent 200 oil/air separator with the pressure release on the inside, and initially thought it was the Provent venting pressure when I had the previous version with the pressure release on the exterior, so it's not that. This is the second hose I've had from ECS, because I assumed the first was defective, and oil from the intercooler hoses was permeating the layers of silicone on boost and creating the mist. Yet the same thing is happening with this hose, and this never happened with the stock hose.

Has anyone ever experienced this with a silicone hose, particularly the intake hose?

The material is a weave and allows oil to weep through.

I have same problem with CTS turbo hoses, I don't know if it is normal or if it's due to poor quality.

It's completely normal, silicone hoses are porous to oil.

Ok, thanks for the link, it explains why the only one that was dry on my car was the one between the air box and the turbo. So for JayDee03, maybe it's better to keep the original PCV system instead of adding a provent oil/air separator

ohhhh yeah .. especially if your area is prone to freezing .. PCV valves these days are extremely complex, especially on turbo cars.
