    Cansensor Gauge review

So i Ended up switching from my p3 gauge to the CANsensor gauge on my a6 and at the same time bought one for my wifes q5.

In the q5 i opted for the cheap version ($200) This does not have the ability to read ethonal, just the normal readings through obd2 port. on the A6 i bought the $250 version that included the option to run ethonal sensor.
They also have a $350 verision that allows supercharger loop pump controll, and fan controll. And a $500 version that allows logging straight to a micro sd card.

One of the main reasons i switched was the ease of adding an ethonal sensor. With both the p3 and cansensor you obviously will need a ethonal sensor, With p3 you also need a $85 voltage line adapter. Cansensor does not need this aditional part ( nor the headache of install, needing a power and ground source) The cansensor comes woth a wire harness woth 3 wires that simply connect to the 3 wires of the ethonal sensor harness , very straight foward.

Other reasons i had for switching is the amount of different parameters you can see on the cansesnsor vs p3. I will say you loose 0 to 60 timers, a/f gauge, and being able to see temps in F instead of C. BUT you gain more then 15 parameters to view.

    Some of theese include:
1.Short term fuel trims ( see in real time what your o2s are doing)
    2 Long term fuel trims
    3 knock per cyl
    4 oil / trans temp
    5 specified vs actual boost
6 specified vs actual fuel pressure
7 low pressure fuel sensor and hpfp duty cycle
    8 misfires

    plus alot more

    Reading ethanol on the a6

    setup in the q5

Overall im very impressed with evry aspect. From the ease of install of the ethonal sensor, to the Long list of eaxtra parameters!

Looks awesome but how do you actually purchase this? I don't see any pricing or ways to purchase on the Instagram page.

You have to email or message on instagram. he responded very fast and shipped out within a few days once he sets it up for your car

I was wondering if anyone has any insight as to hook this up to the pumps? It mentions a wiring diagram in the manual but it's a bit over my head at first glance

Just ordered one up through the Instagram page. Sent them a message. They asked some details and in about 2 weeks I should have it in hand. I'll post in the car once she's all setup!

    Very nice!

as far as pumps/ fan controll

i did hook up the pump controll, but even when gauge was set to ecu controlled i was still getting a soft code for the pump signal. so i just unplugged the signal wire to run the pump all the time.

Interesting I'll give it a while and see if I end up getting the code as well.

Def excited though seems like a good product. Any tip/tricks or other quirks you've run into now that it's been installed a while?

    nothing negative!

i use it in mine and my wifes vehicle to check stuff put daily.

i like how when on most of the channels the red lines pop up for knock. so u can hold the left button to see what cyl pulled timing and how much. even when im focusing on boost or fueling it still will display this

Could you explain a bit more as to what wires you cut to get the fan and pump control running? Or a pic if you have one?

Is it the wire under the hood for the Ecu?

i did not use fan controll only the pump controll. you just clip the signal wire from ecu to the coolant pump and connect the pump side of the stock wireing to the red pump wire , then the oposite side that leads to the ecu you connect to the orange ecu wire from cansensor

the signal wire is a different depending what pump you run.

on the stock cwa50 the signal is the center wire

Gotcha so you ran a wire directly to the pump it sounds like? I was looking at the length of wire he provided with the fan and pump unit and was trying to decide if those wire would make it that far. My assumption was he gave enough wire to run it to the Ecu harness just past the firewall but I'll just have to give it a go and find out I think lol

I broke 1 of the pins on the lcd that holds it into the vent while installing but still seems rock solid. I ended up drilling a hole for the wire and using liquid electrical tape to seal it up and hold the wire out of the way.

Side note I found out he can modify what the groups display. If you would rather one of them show something else he can write a firmware update and email it.

I found this out yesterday when I asked him about a few discrepancies on the instructions he asked if I would like one of them changed to something else to just let him know.
