    Looking at a used RS7

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Personally I wanted to wait till next year to see the prices come down for a newer 2021+ rs7. But I cannot wait. Currently I have an s Class coupe 2015 but I need to get back to audi. This car is great but it lacks in terms of sound system, power, the simplicity of the climate control for the money. I'm looking at some 2016s/2017 rs7s for under $60k with about 50k miles. FEELS like a bargain but a lot of these have 2-3 owners in the past. Is 50k miles a lot? I plan on keep the car for about 2 years max to be honest.

I mostly want a comfort package for massage seats/heating/cooled seats as well since my s class coupe has it. Outside of that the rs7 is definitely the better car for me as I'm already familiar with the platform coming from owning an A7(2017) and S7(2016) also how much would it be to add carplay if I opt for a 2016?

the car you have right now is the exact car i want next lol the only thing i want to replace my tuned s6 with.

anyways, for the 4.0t, no 50k is not a lot in my opinon. As long as it has been properly maintained it has much much much more life in it

to add carplay into a 2016 is really easy and doesnt cost much i think you can even enable it with vcds if i'm not mistaken

The lease numbers on a brand new is just astronomical I'd be better off simply buying a new one for better payments. Audi leases are not favorable at all. With that being said I was doing it for 2 years because I still want the new tech. Just don't want to pay the current premium for it, but that could change depending on how much I love a used rs7.

Ahhhh. This car is nice for sure! but man I would get a newer model and if you must get the s class coupe I would get the upgraded Burmester if you care about sound or music. The base Burmester is so bad. Also with the climate setting you have to go through screens to turn the climate control off. The massaging seats are OK. For the price the power isn't near what I want it to be.

Thanks for the advice ill definitely keep that in mind when i start looking. I'm not in a rush because i love the s6 but ive had my eyes on it for a while. As for power I was planning a stage 2 tune and exhaust and wmi kit and call it a day lol

Also great choice on the rs7, dont lease it or lease any car really its a scam. If you are looking for a comfortable super sedan the rs7 definitely takes the cake

I don't mind I have the funds needed to do that. But now I'm thinking I just get another S7 and wait till next year for a new rs7 lmfao I'm so lost with this right now. I just know I don't want to keep my current car.

This is a tough one. If you want the latest and greatest then surely hold off. Hard to go wrong with any of these car choices but likely will boil down to you’re feelings towards technology.

Looking like I may have no choice to hold off. I actually got too much negative equity in my current car anyway xD

No worries, just stack up while the new rs7 depreciates. Thats why i love german cars, the depreciation hits hard in the first couple years. Then i snag em for a good price.

What new tech are you missing? You can now install 12.3” 4K screens in most of these cars that have an android car system, Apple CarPlay, and keep the original Audi MMI system. When I installed mine it definitely updated the car, along with my matrix LED headlights on the 2012 A6 I think the car has more tech than most newer cars out today

Like there's no way that's cheap you'd have to change out the whole system and then add materials to make it fit lol

I didn't read through everything everyone else has said, but I purchased a used 17 RS7 roughly 2 years ago. Mine had 2 previous owners and 50K miles. I was kind of picky when it came to the packages I wanted mine to have, so I think I looked at nearly every single 17 RS7 for sale across the country at the time.

Some things I had to do in the first year that you should be aware of:

Brakes! My rotors had been pad slapped over and over again from the previous owner(s). Luckily I found another forum member selling brand new rotors (AUDI OEM front and back, non-carbon package) so I grabbed them up immediately. With new pads from Power Stop, I'm good to go for quite a while and since I was able to get a deal on the rotors here on the forums, total cost everything was less than $1,400.

Water pump. Mine started leaking about 5 months after I bought it. I'm sure the previous owner knew it was on its way out. Luckily, I had a warranty from where I bought it, and everything was covered under that. They also swapped out the thermostat housing which has a small crack in it.

Turbo oil screens. This should go without saying, but you need to address the turbo oil screens at some point. Mine are getting replaced under the recall at the end of this month.

There have been some minor suspension issues that have been dealt with, mostly normal wear and tear. Nothing crazy at all.

    Apple Carplay came with mine.

I opted out of the comfort seating package in my search. I wanted those beautiful diamond stitched seats.

I've went through the gambit of tuning too. Tried APR and VPS, ended up going stage II with VPS ECU and TCU. Loving the hell out of it so far.

Oh, almost forgot, I added front and rear camera's too, thanks to a 3D printed mount for the rear window (looks OEM).

My next adventure is getting remote start going without sacrificing a key.

If you have any questions, feel free to PM me.

not sure where you're looking brother

It costs like maybe $500 its entirely plug and play and definitely doable at home by yourself. Any competent shop could do it for cheap as well. ill send you a link for reference but theres many different sellers and specs you can choose from. Def a great inexpensive upgrade if you want it.

My bad I thought he was talking about installing the screens in the location of your current infotainment and adding new screens like for example. Both the 2022 RS7 screens in the center and then adding it to a 2016

I might be in the minority, but I HATE the all touch screen interiors on the newer cars. I also think the newer exterior designs are more bland the C8 series. If you get a C7.5 as you mentioned, you can enabled CarPlay easily and cheaply. Ben Weaving sells the software update and instructions to easily do it. You can find it free but its easier and quicker to utilize Ben, great service as well. He is UK based, and this is his site https://thenavman.com. You can find him in several Audi FB groups as well.

you're not in the minority, Ive never been a big fan of touch screens in a car either. But I do like the look of this screen in the c7 interior better than the look of the oem screen. This is one scenario I can say that. I think it looks odd in some other cars like the D4 with a 12.3 inch looks weird af. But yeah its all subjective I know theres a lot of purists that prefer to keep things oem too. I feel that way about older cars, slapping in a modern touch screen stereo takes a way from the aesthetic. In this case I think it adds to the look of the interior (purely subjective of course)

This thread and a few posts in the FB groups made me look into the reliability and running issues for the C8. Those early owners that bought, tuned and flipped in time are ok but buying some of those tuned cars looks to be a really bad idea with some of the electrical issues happening.

Hmm I may have actually found one that I could pull the trigger on. Just waiting for a few specifics from the dealer might roll some negative equity in. However! It's a 2016 definitely out of warranty. Anybody have any good aftermarket warranties that they use? I def would like to purchase one

Fidelity Warranty Services - used to back Audi extended warranties. Get ready to open your wallet for any extended warranty; probably around $6k for a quality VSC.

With all the extended warranty’s and recalls, you really don’t need one. Just save your money for bigger repairs, like motor mounts and control arms

Super unpopular opinon but I agree with this ^ 4.0t ownership over 2 years and now being at 90 something thousand miles, with no warranty has not been bad for me. Most expensive repair ive done so far was the thermostat for $300-$400, havent needed any major repairs definitely not anything that would total out to 6k or more.

Will Fidelity sell a warranty for a car that is currently out of warranty? I thought you had to get those while the car was still covered.

Yeah it does still have to be covered. I tried on my S7 that i totaled a few years ago and got denied for that exact reason.

VSC’s from Fidelity can be purchased at anytime. You will be charged less if it’s still under factory warranty, but can still be purchased.

I was quoted a bit over $6k for my 2014 w/ 11k miles back in 2020 from Fidelity.

i can sell you a fidelity warranty, depending on how long the term is you can break it up into 24 payments at 0%, only problem is you'd have to come to oklahoma to sign some papers :\

Very strange in this day and age. How do they complete online sales? Or is that also a foreign thing to them?

We get a lot of fraud, we've been lucky to stop most of it but some have successfully stolen vehicles, so we started using a verification service that will meet the customer, confirm identity and collect signatures, then they send us the paperwork. That way if it turns out to be fraud we are not on the hook. Sounds stupid to not esign until you have to write $60k+ off the books

Makes sense! Explains why I had trouble trying to buy a new Jeep across the country.

Situations are different depending on factors, but VSC/extended warranty companies do not limit to only cars still under factory warranty.

If you want a “factory” (OEM) extended warranty - likely backed by a different company like Fidelity - you most certainly do have to be under warranty.

The true difference between a VSC (Vehicle Service Contract) and an Extended Warranty.

I'm close to a deal here however this dealership has been a bit shady. Slow responses, didn't really give me straight answers when I asked if the brakes were done recently or when I asked about the oil screen issue and if that was changed. What would be the key thing to look for on an rs7. This one I'm looking at https://www.highlinemotorcar.com/inv...restige/452255. But this place has gotten some pretty bad reviews as well. Should I just get a PPI and go forward? feeling a little iffy on it as the car has been sitting for 4 months and the service has been this customer service has been this bad

I'd ask more questions about that front end. Looks like a BKM or other copy bumper, the front reflectors aren't there, aluminum accessories on just the front bumper, no OE crash bar cover, slam panel is missing, driver side fender liner looks like it is incomplete cause I can see the oil cooler. Would not be surprised if it was in a front end collision and put back together.
