    2018 S5 - Help with coding flat-bottom steering wheel RS5 paddles

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Good day All.
I've searched & I apologize if I missed something & this is a duplicate post.

2018 S5 Sportback Prestige; stock steering wheel was round smooth heated with paddles.
Replaced with a 1/2-perforated flat-bottom non-heated steering wheel with RS5 style paddles from Lithuanian seller on ebay.
Beautiful wheel, easy install. Paddles do not work. All other steering wheel controls work fine. Haven't shifted with paddles for months...lol.
Looking for VAG-COM coding instructions to activate the paddles and, if possible, remove the heated steering wheel fault warning that shows up at every startup.

Any help would be appreciated; I'm not great with VAG-COM, but I can follow instructions... or I can meet someone local for help if available. Holiday cocktails on me :-)

You cannot "code out" the Heated Wheel error. The only proper way to get rid of that is to replace the Steering Stalks unit too.

I have the same question. I just bought a flat bottom and am looking to replace the factory cold weather wheel. Let me know if you figure it out.

See my post above. You cannot code in or out any features. They are all hard coded into the Steering stalks. You have to change the stalks unit to the one with the features you need.

Nobody has tried, but there's got to be a way to jump the connector with a resistor or something to fool the system into thinking there is a heated steering wheel attached

You might be able to do that for the heated wheel. But would you trust a resistor under the airbag getting hot because you forgot to turn off the Steering wheel heating function before you swapped the wheel. Remember you will have no way to turn off the Heater, once you swap the wheel.

That is strange it does not work. I have a '19 S4 with factory heated round wheel and installed a RS3 flat bottom and everything works just fine. I get the split second warning for heated steering wheel malfunction but it goes away so fast its not even annoying

The error is stored in the fault log though and will come up when you do a scan.
