I happen to get in on the stage 2 e85 APR tune the week they canceled them. The tune required that a catless downpipe be used. Well i didnt have the cash for it at the time so i just gutted the stock unit. I didnt know how valuable the cat was at the time. I figured it was gonna be like 45-50$ :( So i was rocking the stock unit for a long time. I have had a catless downpipe for about a year now but my car was broken so i never installed it. Well i finally got around to it.

I figured the stock unit was pretty decent right! The catless looked clearly bigger but how much would it really matter? Well today i found out. The power delivery is so much crisper and on point. I dont have to go 3/4 throttle to get it to move. The noise is such a nice welcome as well. I really didnt think the noise was gonna be any different but its night and day. So much louder. The pops are now deeper and louder. The tone is better as well. Still no catback system but its close. The stock muffler has been altered to have a louder sound but its not as deep as i would like. Down low it has a bit of rasp that i really dont like.

I dont know the flow rates of the stock vs the cheap CTS unit i have but its clearly much better now. I am really suprised at how restrictive the stock downpipe really is. Nothing new i know but its was a fun experience.
