Good afternoon!
Recently traded in my FBO S3 for a 2018 TTRS.
I saw it at an Audi dealer near me and decided I was gonna do it. The car currently has 41k miles on it. One of the big deciding factors in buying it was that @ 39k miles, the downpipe was done. I am defiantly not scared of work, but without a lift, the downpipes on these car can be a chore.
Here is a list of what was done @ 38k miles at a very reputable shop.
Stage 1 IE ECU flash
IE downpipe
IE full carbon intake
So the current issue I am having, is with launch control. In my old car, it was as simple as disabling TC or ESP, going into sport or manual mode, and then hitting the brake and the gas all the way to the bottom.
Now this car, I have been having issues with. I have followed every step I could find precisely, tried everything, and I cannot get it to “launch”.
I’ve tried it in manual, sport, everything. The issue I am having is that when I hit the brake, then hit the gas, the car doesn’t lock into a RPM, you can just control where you want it. It kind of floats where you set it, but it doesn’t just hit a wall @3500 or 4000RPM like I’ve seen in videos.
The only thing that I can consider is the issue, is the CEL. It appears that the car has a careless downpipe, but only a stage 1 tune. From my experience, 99% of the time you need to run a stage 2 tune if you’re running a cat less pipe. It has 02 codes, but I have monitored AFR’s very closely and they are damn near perfect. Any suggestions? Has the car hit its 200 launch limit? Is it because it has a ECU tune and no TCU tune ?
