    S4 B8.5 Strange Ticking

Hello there fellow members, I’d like to ask a question regarding my vechile, its currently at 160k kms and I’ve done all the maintenance needed for it, I have not yet taken it to a dealer so I am just curious as if I should worry about this or its absolutely normal (as some people say) So the problem is that I think I haven’t noticed it but recently (I may be going crazy or idk) I started hearing a ticking sound, sometimes its when I am at idle, sometimes its when I am accelarating and sometimes its when I am at idle and revving the car, its on the front right side of the car probably somewhere behind the engine… It’s ticking in intervals, very strange noise, I can hear it barely inside my car but outside its kinda noticable, I’ll be happy if someone can open my eyes on this! thank you in advance!

These engines do emit a ticking sound and usually perfectly normal. A rattling sound lasting more than a few seconds at start-up is a different story.

I’ve read a lot about the startup rattling sounds, I also have them, but I was mostly concerned about the ticking, thank you mate for the reply, any others would be also appreciated!

My car ticks sometimes from the vacuum actuated valves on the back of the supercharger. Never thought much of it. Otherwise it could just be the typical direct injection noises these cars make. The injectors are very loud compared to port injection.
