I have a 13 allroad with no B&O sound system. Its been upgraded to an android radio but this thump sound happened before I upgraded the radio. sounds like a short coming from the amp/speaker connection and its happening lot more frequently lately. Any idea where I should start first? driver side cargo area where the amps are?

If it were me I'd first make sure the sub is hooked up and the wire isn't route funky. In some cars that sub wire has a tendency to come loose.

Then yes, I'd start checking the amp wiring in the left rear cargo area.

I would probably have the radio on and start giggling wires to see if I could reproduce it.

I honestly haven't messed with the stock amps, but if they're anything like aftermarket amps there's a "turn on lead". Would seem like a simple place to look if that's a thing. Others will probably have to tell you a bit better. While I've added RSNav and swapped around speakers I haven't really messed with much else nor had any issues requiring troubleshooting.
