    iPad / CarPlay ?s

I currently have a 14 a4 sline , has nav , also mmi I’ve used the search bar. Not much has came up. I don’t see any options for a iPad conversion. See the android option though looks sweet. But I have apple phones. Has anything came available? I seen a CarPlay option from eBay read problems though. The instrument panel in the dash looks sweet. But not 1300 sweet. Seems like the best options are overseas. ???

I also seen you can program the mmi and do window roll down by holding unlock for awhile. Anyone know who I’d get to do that? I have no problem paying for it. Seen also the dvd play. Seen there’s a guru in Tulsa who does some programming no clue who it was now.

I drove it today for 3 hours, great car. But the constantly looking for radio stations since it has no CarPlay capability stunk. And the lack of bass isn’t great either. I will address that. But I don’t see a box that fits passenger side trunk cavity only one for the drivers side. Which I can’t use as the modules for rear led are in that side. Did I overlook that?

    Thanks for any help.

Carplay runs as an app on the Android devices. And you can easily use your phone with any audio app over Bluetooth streaming without needing Carplay, as you have a B8.5 with MMI 3G+.

The stuff in the right rear are a number of central car systems. You're not relocating those. The stuff in the left rear are infotainment units, can just relocate them. Should be just the radio unit, and the amp unit if you have B&O.

Well shoot I just tried the music part and playlist it worked. I have always been able to got the phone to work but when it’s connected it won’t really the maps voice. I just figured it only worked for calls. So thanks. I’d like to use google maps also. One reason m trying to get the car play thing going. I was gonna try the nav in the car and couldn’t even figure out how to out in the address. I’m honestly not technologically challenged but so far in this ride I have been. Lol

Yes has b&o. Nothing impressive to be honest. I was looking the drivers side was a lot
In there. Didn’t look passenger side yet. Haven’t been able to figure out how that side comes out

Curious, both the left and right side cover panels come out the same. Grab indent at the top, pull towards inside of car. And there's a big rack there on the left, but you should only have two devices.

The thing is, without MMI, there's just a simple amp there. Very easy-ish to relocate.

Whereas all B8 have a bunch of stuff in the right side. And getting to fuses and the fuel filler door manual release can be important.

The passenger side is different has a cargo net in it. I can pull drivers out easy. But passenger has been a pia. I mess with it for a few minutes give up. I’ve ordered my sound deadener once it gets here I’ll try harder. Thanks for the pic. I want to put a box in one side. I need the room for kids baseball gear. The reason I bought this car for the mpg , I drive to much for sports.

Interesting. Never noticed the sedans have a different manner of cover panel on the right side from the wagons. I own a wagon; have no interest in ever owning a 4-door with a trunk. :-)

Mine is different than both. I don’t get it. No lever what’s so ever.

There's four variants, combining with or without the net and with or without the 12v socket. Also, it appears there was the initial four used through MY09, then a new set of four used MY10 on. Possibly, the handle was removed for the later set. Original set would be rev _ /A/B/C, later set rev D/E/F/G.

Rev G (later set, with net, without 12v):

Notice no release handle. But you have to be able to get to the fuses, so it has to come off somehow. Owner's manual should explain.

Yeah, page 213 of the owners manual, you just insert a pry at the top and lever the top edge out. https://ownersmanuals2.com/audi/a4-s...s-manual-71145
