You'd need to scan for codes and see what it's actually saying "on the inside". I don't know any automatic expected issues from overfilling with oil. If the oil level sensor doesn't work, you need to validate the current oil level with an appropriate dipstick or drain and refill with an exact amount to restore to a known correct situation. That the oil level sensor doesn't work is probably why the MIL and EPC are on.

"My wife's friends kid" yeah right LMAO

Why would he fill oil when he changed tires, and why don't you have 30 minutes to change them yourself? Alot of questions and why are you upset?

You can either manually clear it (if you have a suitable scan tool) or it should self clear after sufficient drive cycles if the issue that set it is no longer testing positive.

Yeah I’m confused as to the sequence of events here, snow tires to over filled motor with oil?? That’s not making any sense.. if your oil level sensor has been defective you would have been in EPC mode for awhile. I understand you are using a dipstick but the MMI doesn’t know that.. like smac said get it scanned with Ross Tech VCDS and not any other cheap toy like OBD11. Why don’t you put in a new sensor?

Took it for a spin after putting the snow tires on noticed the “add oil max 1L” error message and I always keep oil in the trunk decided to add a bunch of oil to clear the message over filled the car to the point it wouldn’t start

I constantly get the add oil message even when the oil level is correct I use a dipstick to check so I am assuming I have a bad oil sensor ?

Possibly. I'd scan for DTCs and see if anything is there. Then check the oil level measuring values to see if they appear intelligible. Etc.
