    Acceleration/Traction Control Issue

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hey guys, just had a weird issue with my 2015 S3 where all of a sudden it wouldn't go over like 25mph, was making a creaking sort of noise from what sounded like the front end, felt like something was "holding it back" from accelerating like when you're really low on fuel, traction control light flickered for a sec when I tried giving it more throttle. Issue went away at low speed a couple min later, was able to get it up to 50 just fine like normal or so but then it started happening again. Concerned it could be something with the Haldex/Bevel box/Transmission. Mechanic friend who has a lot of VAG experience said it sounded like a wheel speed sensor going bad (if so I hope that's all it is!!!), thoughts?

All these cars today use OBD(On board Diagnostics)

You need an OBD reader to get any codes stored.

    No OBD...no fixee

If your not DIY repairing it...take it to a shop.

I have Carly's full subscription which has both standard trouble code reading and clearing capabilities and deeper scan OBD specific abilities. No codes related to ABS or any driveline components that'd explain this at all, and no CEL associated either.

    2015...probably needs a carbon cleaning.

    What fuel you running? 89?

Its bad to run it on really low fuel...

Haldex/Transmission issues will show up with a stored code...as they have electronic modules.

Bevel box is 100% mechanical device with zero electronics attached to it to warn of issues.

    Generally it makes gear noises/whine...

Not sure Carly reads all the modules...

If I was to guess...carbon cleaning.

    Possible fuel injector issue.

I had a carbon cleaning done about a month ago and I absolutely never run less than 91 ethanol-free fuel, usually I run 93 because it's a little cheaper, if I could afford the premium on the ethanol-free I'd run that exclusively. I also run Liquimoly Jectron through about every 2 months or so. Replaced plugs with NGK iridium about 10k ago and just did APR coils a few thousand miles ago. No Haldex/DSG codes, Bevel Box whine showed up a few months ago but went away on its own and hasn't returned, I have the fluid and additive just waiting to have it done at the next DSG/Haldex Service interval.

    Thoughts?

It could be anything...with no obd codes.

Reset the DSG and see how it acts after.

Not sure if I can do that through Carly, will have to see what functions are available.

It does have 165k on it and I'm assuming original injectors, you think it'd be possible they're getting stuck open or just failing slowly? I did get 4 PO300 codes a few weeks back and have experienced some hard starts.

    DSG Reset:

1 Do not press brake pedal! Press start button to turn ignition to the on position. don't start the engine!

2 Hold down the gas pedal all the way down pressing the button under the pedal for at least 30 seconds.

3 Let foot off pedal. do no turn ignition off because that will void the reset. Press brake pedal start engine.

Drive normally no spirited driving as the DSG is relearning. After some miles drive as you wish.

I would seriously consider the injectors...

    I had 2 bad injectors

Gotcha, will do that today and report back, thanks!

FCP's injector kit is backordered indefinitely :(

Found these on Rockauto, price seems awfully low but I'll take it lol if they're the right ones? https://www.rockauto.com/en/parts/bo...+injector,6224

I buy only OE Audi injectors cause there are allot of imitation copies out there...older versions...

    https://www.genuineaudiparts.com/oem...or-06l906036ak

The dealership will sell you the newest ones! Which when I bought were AK.

My original 2015 injectors were L...So they have been updated allot...

Dealership prices are going to be absurdly expensive... OEM ones from FCP and ECS are expensive enough as it is.

Rock shows BOSCH 0261500246 and out of stock via their parts catalog...

The 0261500246 is the Bosch part number...

    https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/...+injector,6224

The 62836 you listed say for 2018...

You should be able to find them via the Bosch part number...but make sure what you order is what arrives. Places will send you the older versions and claim they are the same.

The Bosch number on the OE ones I bought from the dealer above is 0 261 500 01H

    0 261 500 246 are what's on the old 2015 injectors removed from my S3.

Did the procedure. Should there have been any sort of notification or confirmation that it worked/was complete?

I'm slightly confused, if you look at the picture provided on that listing (https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...11180113&jsn=3), it seems to correctly show the current revision part number for the ones you told me you got (0 261 500 01H), but the part #s actually listed do not match the 06L906036AK. Thoughts?

Ya have to verify the place sent your what you ordered and paid for.

Many show a pic of the correct part...but what arrives is a different part number. Its how they get rid of their old stock. Most drop ship from another vendor...who think you dont know how to correctly identify parts by part numbers.

While the older parts will work...they are not the newest version or have the improvements or fix's over the old.

I had a Audi dealership twice sent me the older parts even though I verified with them the newer part numbers is what I ordered and paid for.
