Is it plastic? If so could be oil pump tensioner. Only other plastic parts are cam tensioner pads, which could also have disintegrated but it would be a longer trip down to the oil pan. I have seen dipsticks shed plastic too but it's not that much.

Oil pan looks so clean that I assume it was recently apart?

Thats a lot of junk man, sorry.

It's plastic but the tensioner I can see is still there. Possible part of it broke? I can push on the chain but it has tension.

Like PwrWgn said--only a few places where this material is used---
The downside is you cannot inspect properly without a disassembly- you can't see the bottom tensioner of the cam chain with it inplace...
Also you need to remove the top section of the oil pan to view the tensioner for the oil pump chain...
What really sucks is that these parts (skid pads) are inexpensive but require a bunch of work to get at....(lifting the cams fairly easy)

Hard to tell from that pic, but the chunks look pretty similar to when I had one of the plastic pads on a cam chain tensioner break just a small corner off. Everything but the big pieces ended up in the oil pan and stuck all over the oil pickup screen. So be sure to clean that out too before putting the pan back on.

How long you owned the car? Could be possible something like my scenario above happened and the tensioner or guides were already replaced and whoever did it didn't pop off the oil pan to clean the rest up.

So i figured this out after ripping into the heads and found it was the cam chain tensioner on my passenger side. I totally ran her low on oil multiple times. Not surprised. Now to diagnose my oil leak woohoo

Belms already said it, but just to reiterate: MAKE SURE TO CLEAN THE OIL PUMP PICKUP SCREEN!

As far as I can tell, you dodged a bullet here if you didn't damage any valves or anything.
