2007 Black RS4 83k miles - blown engine $15k

Car is in great shape. I took a roll of the dice that the engine was ok, but it wasn't. Something took out oil cooler and it lost pressure and skipped timing. Some bent valves, but I didn't really investigate much further than that. I want $15k for it, which is less than what I have in it, not that anyone cares... Feel like that is a pretty good price for a low mileage car if someone has an engine or the ability to rebuild this one on their own. Car will have an Utah salvage title (written off for an engine). This car is seriously nicer than most non salvage ones I have seen (minus the blown engine obviously). I will attach some pictures, but let me know if there is anything else you want to see. I included what I consider the only really damage to the car other than the engine. One wheel has small amount of curb damage and the lower piece of the bumper is damaged. Clean Title, blown engine Phantom Black Car with similar miles in far better cosmetic condition sold for $8,500 in Texas about 2mo ago. $15K is SUPER steep for this.

I purchased one in better condition than this with more miles and clean title 5 months ago for 7,800. I would be interested in this if the price comes down.

Well, I wish I would have seen either of those cars as I would have happily paid those prices. As far as the cosmetic condition, other than the 2 things I pointed out, I am surprised to hear of something in "far better cosmetic condition" going for so cheap. Sure, the car is dirty at the moment, but it is a clean car. I will keep this for sale for a bit and see what happens, but I will keep it for yard art before I sell at prices similar to what you both have seen. I'm not trying to take advantage of anyone. I thought the price was fair, but time will tell. Appreciate both of your input.

Yes, the bumper is broken, and while in the grand scheme of things thats a small issue, any OEM RS4 Stuff is pricey and harder to find. Think one guys been looking for one on here for a bit, wheels curbed, etc. Few cars have gone for around 7-9K with similar stories but clean title. I’d plead to get the Mechanical Salvage title removed, kind of a dumb reason to salvage it. GLWS!

Yeah. These don’t come up often but when you get one with a bad engine it gets expensive fast. 15-25k job. So at 15k it’s easier to just buy a running one and not deal with it. I’m interested if you are willing to come down on the price. Would be a big bonus if the salvage title can be removed.

I did. Just finishing the break in. Went with a new Audi short block and rebuilt heads. Car is a blast. I have all the parts to rebuild 2 Rs4 engine now. Need to replace the block itself or have these sleeved.

I’m looking for something to save.

Black one near Dallas that was very clean sold around $8K a few months back. I contacted him within an hour of posting that night saying id be there first thing in the morning with cash and he sold it while i was driving there, not even 12 hours i believe.

The only one I have seen here or fb was a half crashed one in Colorado that top half of the motor was exposed and still “ran” for 9k. I think this isn’t a bad deal. Motor fixed or replaced and your saving some money

Eh, you will probably spend $7,500 to fix that engine if not more, then another $1,500 to get a bumper + paint, all for a Salvage titled RS4. Miles are good but at this point buying a clean title running RS4 is probably more in the cards.

I can say that 7,500 to fix the engine is not even close. It more than likely needs to be sleeved or a new block. Almost impossible to get a new block and rebuilding these engines is crazy expensive. I just went through it and ended up buying a short block from Audi. That’s 10k right there and then rebuilding the heads and assembling plus you may as well throw a new clutch in there and whatever else while the engine is out. Cost me over 20k but I could not be happier with how it came out. If you can do the work in your own you will save a ton. But parts will add up quick.
