Heya folks! Love the community around, in all seriousness since i've started my project, I cannot count how many times I did end up finding valuable and helpfull informations on this forum!
So I happen to have a question, I'm currently working on a Swapped B5 S4 with a V8 4.2 BBK engine and have got some new codes popping after fixing some others, and I find it weird so any insight is greatly appreciated!
The car was having issues, and several codes, Missfires on Cyl 1-2-7, wich were fixed by changing 2 coil packs, on redoing the wire on Cyl1 as it had a cut into it ( damn swaps!)
It Also had a P1392- Camshaft position sensor bank 2, wich strangely enough was just unplugged, so I plugged it back.
Now the car has been running WAYYYY BETTER since the fixes atop BUT it gave me NEW codes, wich I find strange to say the least.
P0011 and P0021 appeared, wich basically mean the camshaft adjusters are more advanced. Now I see you saying right away, thoses are known to fail and it would be normal for an old engine to throw thoses but I do have an issue.
Why did the P0011 never showed prior to this? I can understand the P0021 as the camshaft Sensor was unplugged so it couldnt get a proper read on Bank 2, but bank 1 was plugged and gave me no code prior to plugging Bank2...
Also, As far as I understand, usually having to change thoses indicate a job for chains/tensionners as well for most cases. But is there a way to know for sure?
I hear no rattle on cold start here in Montreal ( its cold, trust me!) and it runs like a puuring cat once it's warm, it feels a little sluggish but nothing compared to before, and I would assume this is mainly due to timing being offset by the P0011 P0021 since at low rev its hesitant but past 4k rpm it roars like the lion it is!
So yea, long story short, is there any way for me to know if chains/tensionners have to be done as well, or it's only a ''pull it to see it'' situation?
