    Outgrew B8 SQ5 - in the market for 4M Q7

After upgrading my 1yo son to a convertible car seat, I suddenly find myself in the market for a larger vehicle. his baby seat fit nicely in the middle of the rear seat, leaving plenty of room for both front passengers. But now with him needing to be on the rear passenger side, we have very little room for the front passenger and when my wife sits in the back with the boy, she's now forced to be behind me at 6'2". we road trip often (31k miles in 2 years...and we wfh) so this setup is far from ideal.

I know there have been a few different reliability threads but I figured checking in now that the cars are 4-6 years old hopefully we'll have some more long-term data. I'm most interested the prestige 3.0T trim with air suspension. I know the engine has been around for quite some time and i've had no issues with it in the sq5, but as someone who owns an e55 with airmatic, the air suspension scares me. has anyone encountered issues with this?

Is the water pump still an issue with these motors? I haven't had to address mine at all but i know it's somewhat common.

If anyone has any other input it would be appreciated. I'm actually going to check out a local 2018 prestige black optics with 63k on it in a couple hours. if things go as planned i'd look to have a ppi done and see if we can make a deal this week.

and if you're interested in a 2015 sq5 with 75k on it hit me up. i maintained it as if i'd drive it for several years, but the size just isn't working for our family any more.

The local Q7 was beautiful and spec'd just about perfectly but the seller informed me he was in a fender bender a couple years back which doesn't show up on AutoCheck (haven't looked at the carfax). I thought the price was a bit too much ($33k) when taking that into consideration so I'll continue looking

SQ5 has now developed an exhaust leak which I'm assuming is coming from the flex in the downpipe. I'm having that looked at while new valve cover gaskets are being installed. all on a car I wish I'd like to be out of asap

We have a ‘19 Q7 and love it. Plenty of room for us, the 4 month old and an 85lb dog on road trips especially if we use the luggage rack on the roof racks and basically no issues other than an exhaust heat shield that had to be replaced under warranty. No air suspension on mine but otherwise car has been flawless and rides quite well

sorry i missed this but i think i actually responded on one of your posts on the same subject. i paid $46.2 for a 2019 with 25k and nearly every option available (BOP, lux, adaptive air, B&O, 22" wheels). It took me about 6-8 weeks of searching to find the right one at a price i was happy with. I did speak to a couple other dealers but they were overpriced imo. I knew this one was a good deal so i hopped on it quickly.

Have you had any luck? This one in CT is nearly identical to mine minus Lux & B&O but the whole stolen vehicle thing scares me and think it should be priced quite a bit lower considering that.

That's almost a twin to the one i just picked up in december. Mine is a black interior, though. I paid slightly less than that with 20,200 miles. I would dig deeper into the stolen claim. It might just be a carfax data entry issue. I've had a few friends here latey get some good deals on cars due to the carfax having some misinformation like that stolen claim.
I'm not saying it's false, but it's definitely worth some more investigating. My understanding is that it is almost impossible to get carfax to remove false data from a report once it's entered.

yen, the stolen one has some stories to tell. Nearly all of the miles were put on it by Oct 2020 when it was stolen then it wasn't recovered for nearly 2 years. odd

even had it not been stolen and had a normal carfax i think it's overpriced compared to the deal i got. missing nearly $10k in options compared to mine yet still listed for more

i think the business strategy for the dealership i bought mine from is to absolutely lowball the customer on trade in and in turn sell that traded in vehicle at a lower price than competitors. i sold my sq5 privately for nearly $6k more than i was offered on trade in so it all worked out for me. but if you don't want to deal with that hassle the 'deal' you get on your new vehicle gets eroded a bit by the low trade in
