    Does anyone recognize this part?

This piece is off my daughter's 2014 A4 2.0 Quattro. This part was laying on the belly pan when I changed the oil today. I see no obvious place where it goes. It is about the diameter of a nickel, has a plastic outer ring with two snap tabs to hold it in something, the metal part unthreads, but with left hand threads, and the small center hole has a small spring clip to hold pressure on the sides of something. Any ideas? Thanks.

B8.5 headlamps are mounted differently than B8.0, so can't give you a first hand pic of where that thing should be.

Might be the thing in the middle of the image here: youtu.be/7bnqyqN49gA?t=284

its the headlight fastener,,, it is designed to tighten against the body no matter where it is without altering the headlight aim ,, a sort of self adjusting bolt.

you can see where it goes here and how it works, as you tighten it it moves to meet required surface.
