headlight switch stays illuminated all the time?

I recently purchased a 2009 A4 convertible at an insurance auction that was "total loss non-collision" the car starts up and runs great, new timing belt and camshaft follower installed 6k miles ago according to carfax. but the car goes dead every 3-4 days of sitting. My son noticed that with the key out and the car just sitting in the garage, the light switch STILL stays lit up all the time. the lights themselves go out, but the switch stays lit up. I'm hoping someone has a clue? I've contemplated swapping the switch out of my 08 A4 to this 09 model and see what happens. Does anyone have a clue?

You could pull the light switch to see if the parasitic draw goes away. Otherwise here’s a pretty good video covering the topic:

thanks for the reply, I'll have to dig into more than just the switch, i've noticed the little turn knob beside the switch that has DRL and cabin light brightness and what not is also lit up even with the headlight switch removed and unplugged.

When you say "stays lit up all of the time" are you sure? I know- sounds a stupid question but here's where I'm coming from....

When I shut down my car (engine off, lights go out, exit and lock the doors) my headlight switch remains illuminated. For how long, though, I don't know...but I know it goes out. I guess my point is that perhaps you guys see it's lit and are assuming it stays lit all of the time (thus causing the draw and being dead every few days) when the two may not be related.
