Does 05.5 and 08 have different amount of wires goin into coolant temp sensor

So I needed a coolant temp sensor pigtail on my 08 manual s4 because it won’t start just cranks and will try to start here and there. Only code vcds showed when I scanned real quick was fir cts. The one that came with engine was mangled along with the harness side connector. Replaced sensor and tried to finagle mangled connector on but still had code. So decided to try and snip connector off my 05.5 tiptronic and try it on the 08 and hopefully get it started. Now I know it’s a 4 pin connector/sensor, so I cut the connector for out and there’s only two wires actually going to connector. I didn’t look yet to see if the 08 had 4 wires which I figured they both would seeing as it’s a 4 pin sensor/connector and the sensor is actually for the gauge and the signal to ecu. Can anyone verify or disprove whether or not it’s supposed to actually have 4 wires on the 08 and maybe the early b7s (05.5) maybe only had two because u can see there weren’t 4 wires to the 05.5 connector ever because the holes r plugged. The 08 is a half hr drive away and I don’t wanna drive up there to find out it’s not gonna work. Happy thanksgiving and Thank you for reading. PFAIMG_3266.JPG

05 b7 and don't think its changed at an 08.

Yea that’s how the one I cut off the 05.5 looked, with only copper in two holes and two wires coming out. So hopefully that’s how they all are and there wasn’t a vin split where they started running all 4 wires all the way to connector, there must be a splice somewhere? I tried looking at a cpl dif wiring diagrams and they all made it seem all 4 wires went to the connector. Idk but thank u so much fir helping
