How to tell if your B5 A4 is a sport model

What are the differences to look for to know you have a sport model? Is there a code on the sticker for it? Car came with some extra badges in the glovebox one being a red strip (pictured below). Forgive me if it's a dumb question, I'm new to audi and I've only had the car for a year after buying it from a one lady owner.

    Generally speaking:
    - OEM Sport Shocks are Red in color (standard shocks are Black), car sits about 1" lower (hard to tell after years of sagging, sometimes)
    - Sport Steering Wheel (3 spoke instead of standard 4 spoke). A lot of cars, especially 2000+ cars got the Sport Wheel without sport suspension, however.

Code for Sport Suspension is "1BE", so you can look for that on the option code sticker (it's in the trunk, in the spare tire area, if I recall correctly).

Here is a website that will "decode" most of the option codes:
    http://igorweb.org/equidec/

Here's an example sticker showing "1BE" Sports Suspension on a B6 (see far right column of options grid)

Excellent, thankyou. I did attach a pic of my sticker- car- and the red strip badge but they aren't there now.
    Thanks for your help.
Just checked my sticker and it says 1BE

Do you know where this badge is supposed to go? I want to make/ keep the car genuine in appearance besides the smoke tail lights, the red ones are ugly.20221121_080212.jpg

I don’t know that I’ve ever seen that badge, if I am honest.

I don't think that is factory for a B5 A4. It could be from another model. It reminds me of the Tesla "red underline" for the Performance cars:

The only different badging on the B5 was for the late 2001's (2001.5 some would say). They got a Red "flag" on the letter "T". This was meant to indicate the +20HP for the 2001 model year.

Okay thankyou, I wonder if it's from a later model. I don't know what tail light it had in the left but it wasn't the correct one hence why I put smoke ones in.

Figured it out from someone on a UK forum, it goes under the a4 badge because it's sport model. Just have to buy the missing quattro one from under the 1.8t badge now.Screenshot_20221124-062429_DuckDuckGo.jpg

That facelift B5 Euro Trunk is soooo nice. The super flush License Plate light assembly is just *umph*. The best thing, short of a heckblende anyway.

Where is the option code sticker located for the avants? Is it in the same location (spare tire well) as the sedans? Reason why I ask is because my avant doesn't have a option code sticker in the spare tire well. According to the previous owner, my avant is a sport. But I can't verify that I have red shocks since they were replaced with Bilstein shocks.

I figured that's where it's supposed to be for the avants. Sucks mine is missing. I also don't have the owners manual. So what other options is there?

I wonder if you could contact audi with your vin number and see if they can provide a copy of your options sticker.

Try checking under your rear bench seat. You have to yank up on it to pop it up. I remember seeing the options tag under an avant rear bench but can’t remember if it was in a B5 or B6. Worth a try.
