S7 Winter Tire Options (21” Rims)

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hi all — newby here so thanks in advance for the support…

2018 S7 with 21 Rim (Black Optic Package)

OEM Tire Size is 275-30 R21

There are seemingly no Winter Tires for sale in that size…can I use 275-35 R21 without any issues???

Any insight or feedback is welcome, thanks!

I suppose its an option, but overall I’m happy with the summer tires — and don’t mind swapping them out seasonally.

Buy a set of used oem S7 20s…plenty of winter tire options and you’ll get a 35 series tire on there with no negative effect to suspension setup.

Thanks — definitely an option if I strike out with tire only options.

The extra sidewall should fit without rubbing. Your Speedo will be off 2-3mph. The delta is on the boarder of what’s typically recommended for the Quattro system - try to stay <3% and that set-up is just shy of 4%.

Many thanks @Matty — appreciate the level of detail and explanation.

    Wouldn't 255/35-21 make more sense? https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires...omCompare1=yes

That’s a good point — I’m certainly no expert, but a little narrower would probably be better in the snow. I was just trying to stay close to OEM measurements

Narrower is likely a little better than wide, 20mm of sectional isn’t that big of a deal and gets you closer to OE diameter with a 35 series. Plus they’re winter tires and this is a terrible time to find a lot of sizes. Those Vredesteins are relative cheap too.

Or, sell me your 21's on the low and buy a couple of sets of 20's!

I was trying to buy those RS7 21's with winter tires from the guy 'out by you' (Seattle), until he went radio silent for 4 days then told me he sold them. 😞

Thanks to all — and I’ll keep the 21’s, lol.

I’ve got vredstein 255/40/19 on my A6. Good on cold and wet pavement. No snow speak of yet.

Other folks who have put 275x35x21 tires on air suspension cars have had some issues with rubbing when at the lowest suspension level. Sounds like 265 is a bit better.

    .

I run the Audi factory option 19s and have previously used the standard 20s which I found winter tyres for successfully.

The ride quality on the 19s is noticeably better.

I went 245/35/21 I got brand new from Direct Tires for 700 since it's "used" as it's 2019 tires. It was originally selling for 900 but they were having a 200 off 800 or more so I end up paying 700 brand new 2019 tires.
