Any recommendations for a home garage lift/ramp that won't break the bank?

Looking at options for the garage, plenty of room. I've been using the ramps you drive up on to get a foot or so of clearance to work under the vehicle, but would love to hear thoughts on the next step -

I noticed this is a bit higher but have read these don't work with low profile cars like our S4 (i am stock height fwiw)

is the next step up the $1500 or so option of the quicklift?

and then from that this 2 post lift that seems to be all you could want for $2700?

What is everyone else using at home? Any recommendations? Thanks for the feedback!

PS- Obviously not interested in sacrificing safety to save $

I have the Quickjack (QJ) 5000SLX. I've used it for exhaust work, R&R the rear diff on my Q60 to install an LSD, tire rotations, brake work, etc. QJ has since come out with the TL-series, which provided an additional 3" of lift.

Costco frequently puts the QJ on-sale. Here's a link to the bundle:

Or HD has the QJ 5000TL without accessories on-sale for BF:

Solid recommendations, mother has a platinum costco membership or whatever the high tier is so i'll keep my eyes open for any specials, the $1700 kit seems reasonable though, any must-haves that don't come with that kit you've found are needed? I see quickjack thinks i need a $100 flashlight stick thingy and these $350 extenders to get another 6 inches

The only additional I picked up with my 5000SLX was the pinch weld blocks. You'll want to cut the groove just a bit wider. Unless they've widened it over the years. It'll wear the coating off the pinch weld point unmodified, it's just too narrow. But the blocks are soild, though I don't advise using them on top of the tall blocks; I use them on top of the short blocks. The wall hangers might be useful; I just let mine sit on the garage floor, but they do take up some space. But I definitely say get the TLX now that they are out; 3 more inches would be really helpful on some of the suspension work with long breakers.

Get the TLX, not the TL.

As for an extra almost grand for a 2-post, does seem sweet. But my QJs can get out of the way when not being used. And I can even transport them in the avant; took them back home one time to help work on a family car.

I went with one of these a few years back. https://www.twinbusch.com/product_in...?products_id=8 When I purchased mine it was $2,000. Solid unit.

Used Maxjax from craigslist if you want dirt cheap and have some patience. Would pop up every few months when i was searching Portland and Seattle Craigslist. Got mine for 650 or so.

4 foot lift so not a full lift but i have 9.5 ceilings in shop so no loss.

I appreciate all the insight, seems like there's a consensus around the TLX or waiting for a bargain on craigslist.....

    oh wait nevermind......

    .....
for $1500 apparently on my local craiglist i can buy a horse so i'll just see if the s4 balances on top.

I purchased the BL-7000-SLX as an open box and saved money. It has a lifting capacity of 7000lbs. I did purchase the pinch weld block and did have to open up the gap in the block so they would not remove the coating on the pinch weld. I found using the blocks that come with the ramps and the pinch weld block is a little shaky. I placed a 1/2 inch piece of wood with a channel cut the width of the pinch weld block in the pockets of the ramps. It lifts the block enough so that the car is not laying on the frame of the ramps but is very secure. And you can reposition the block front to back along the channel and still stay parallel.

I also purchased the Mobility kit for Quick Jack (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TD7vxJT6DJM) hydraulic lift systems which is sold on Esty for $349. It helps with moving the ramps around they are pretty heavy and the tiny wheels on the ramps don't work well.

I have used the ramps for a tire change, brake work, and DSG service it makes it easier to work on the car and is safe.

I have a QuickJack 7000-SLX which I love and I also got it open box but it looked brand spanking new when I got it. I got two sets of blocks, the power booster/air compressor and the SUV adapters for less the $1300 shipped - pre covid - but it was a smoking hot deal best money I've spent in awhile too. Just used it to swap tires on both the S4 and Q7 vs paying someone to do it on the Q7 which is on air and damn near impossible when using a floor jack.

I also purchased this last week - https://www.eastwood.com/eastwood-de...-ramp-set.html - got a $15 off coupon using Honey. Ordered it on Monday at 11:30am, it shipped same day and I got it on Tuesday about 2pm.

Either or those options or both I think will keep you covered for awhile. I initially looked at race ramps but their prices are just a touch too rich for me.
Life has taught me never try to make something idiot proof, they'll simply come up with a better idiot.
I'd agree with you but then we'd both be wrong.
I have neither the time, nor the crayons to explain this to you properly.

I just used my QJ 7000-XL to swap snow tires onto my Grand Cherokee a couple days ago, and am still as happy with them today as I was when I bought them about 3 years ago. Got a great deal from HD back in the day, paid only about $1,100 if I remember correctly. I also added these, which are better than most because the slot is .55", which fits the pinch welds on pretty much every vehicle. Many are in the .35" range and wouldn't fit on some of the vehicles I've had to lift. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I've never really had an issue moving them around, but they are heavy as mentioned by a few people.

The Eastwood ramps seem like a great deal if going for the least expensive route and not pulling wheels off. I ended up buying the EZ Car Lift after being on the fence about it for a long time due to the price. I kept coming back to the fact that I could access most anything I needed to from any side of the car without a lift blocking my path. After using it, I'm sorry I waited so long to pull the trigger. I love it and use it all the time. Cry once motto applied. It's great for moving the vehicles around the garage too with the wheel kit option.
