    Melted fuel injector

I bought an '06 TT Quattro 1.8t BEA, that had bent valves. I replaced the cylinder head, timing chain, timing belt, oil, filter, fuel filter, and spark plugs. It's been sitting for about 6-7 years with 3/4 of a tank of fuel. I managed to drain it to under 1/4 of a tank and filled it up with fresh 91 octane. It's been misfiring and sluggish, which I attributed to the bad fuel. I drove it approximately 20 miles to work and as I was pulling in it was barely running and was running very rough. I popped the hood and could hear, what I though was an exhaust leak. Looking around I noticed oil above the #4 injector. Upon closer inspection I noted half of the injector missing. Has anyone ever ran across this problem and if so what could have caused the injector and harness to melt.
