    A7 3.0TDI Quattro 2015 Nogaro Blue - Project story

I have been following and reading Audizine forum for years and personally I like to read project stories with pictures. That’s why I decided to share the story of my A7 and also write some info about the modifications/retrofittings I have done. I have already shared this story in the Finnish Audi forum but I thought why not to share this also in Audizine.

I was following the used A7 markets in Finland and also in Germany and the minimum criterias were Bose sound system and ACC because retrofitting ACC is quite laborious (two radars + one camera etc.). Nice to have equipment were sunroof, S sport seats and HUD.

The market for used Audi A7 is not that big in Finland but finally on October 2020 I was able to find a beautiful blue A7 with pretty good specs/equipment:

    • Built 10/2015 -> model year 2016
    • 3.0TDI Diesel Quattro
    • Nogaro Blue (pretty rare in A7)
    • Valcona leather interior (lunar silver)
    • S-line exterior package
    • S-line interior package
    • S-line sport package
    • Matrix led lights
    • HUD
    • ACC
    • Sunroof
    • Bose
    • Park Assist
    • Side assist & lane assist
    • MMI Navigation Plus ja MMI Touch
    • Insulating/acoustic glass
    • 4-zone automatic air conditioning
    • Convenience key with sensor-controlled release of the luggage compartment lid
    • Front and reversing cameras
    • Power-assisted door closing

One of the first modification was the mirror cover change.

As this car does not have black optic package there are lot of chromed details. That’s why I decided to change the mirror covers to matt chrome versions (like in S model). I also decided to change the mirror blinkers at the same time. This car originally has dynamic blinkers in the front and in the back but the blinkers in the mirrors were non-dynamic.

The actual change required some thinking and planning but after that it was fairly easy job. And personally I like the result! And now all the blinkers are symmetrically dynamic

Thanks! Nogaro blue looks great in real life!

In addition for some reason in Finland the colors selected to cars are pretty boring (grey, black, dark blue etc.) so this blue one really stands out

    Interior mirror change.

I got a great tip from Finnish Audi forum to change the interior mirror the newer and nicer version. I ended up choosing the mirror from Audi A3 / TT which is a plug’n’play install to my A7. And these mirrors are fairly cheap for example in Ebay.

The new mirror looks much more modern and updated!

    Subwoofer upgrade.

This car has OEM Bose-system with 14 speakers and 12 channel amplifier and I was pretty satisfied with the original setup. There has been lot of discussion about the Bose’s subwoofer and I agree with that it is not the best.. Some people have changed the element in the original Bose subwoofer but I decided to use JL Audio subwoofer (CP108LG-W3v3) I have had installed in my previous two cars. It really is a great subwoofer!

In addition I purchased a Hertz amplifier (HCP1D) and installed it to the same mounting where the original amplifier is. I took the signal from Bose’s original subwoofer wiring and power from the battery. The installation is as neat as possible but the subwoofer is visible at the trunk (but easy to remove if needed).

I left the original Bose subwoofer connected so now I have both of the subwoofers working together (JL Audio and original Bose) so it needed careful adjustments/settings for those two subs to sound nice together.
