    Squeaking at idle 2016 S5

Squeaking at idle. No codes, lights or any change in performance. Just noticed it today so not sure how long it's been happening. Maybe related to the cold? Can't remember hearing it when it was warmer out. Sound either goes away above idle or I just can't hear it over the engine and can't be heard inside the car at all. Sounds like it's coming more from the center of the engine bay and nearer the back of the engine than anywhere else. It's the high pitched somewhat intermittent squeak you should be able to hear.

Accessory belt replaced less than 20k miles ago. Alternator charging at 14.4v at idle (didn't test above idle). Not using or burning oil that I can tell.

The video was made after the car had been sitting in my garage for a few hours but I noticed it earlier when it was closer to operating temperature and it sounded the same both times.

I had a very similar squeak/squeal on my S5. No codes, no performance impact.

It turned out to be a small stone that got caught in the supercharger belt. It was like that for 5k+ miles until it was eventually caught by my mechanic while putting in a new engine (new engine was unrelated to this). We put a new belt on there, and the squeak was gone.

    Hope this helps.

Curious why you needed a new engine? I see you have the 034 tune... I was going to order that as well, think that caused it?

PCV system is known to fail and squeak when it does.

I don't want to get into details online but the tune wasn't directly related and the new motor was immediately put on the same 034 stage 2 setup. I believe the failure could have happened on a stock setup on any vehicle - not specific to this powertrain.

I'm running a 034 Stage 2+ ECU/TCU and just got back an oil analysis (at 68k mi) and my engine metals wear rate was below average. I am using a top quality custom botique oil (7.5w-40 Quantum Blue) in my S5, RS5, and RS6. Everything else I use Redline 5w-40. I try to do my oil changes at 6k but got sidetracked on this last one and went 7.5k, Blackstone said keep running it to 7.5k with such good results. My RS6 changes have been coming back better than usual, haven't sent in one for the RS5 yet.

Well, good to know. My 034 stage 2 setup gets delivered today and I hopefully will be installing it this weekend :)
