    AC compressor bracket loose!

Found the cause of my charging issues on my B9 S5. Finally got some time to work on it and found both
belts had yeeted themself from the pulleys. Started shaking things to see what would have
caused that and found the entire compressor and tensioner hanging by a thread. I can only see
two bolt locations, one empty hole where it looks like a bolt was cross threaded and broke off
in the block, and another backed way out of its home. Some hack was in here at some point and really DGAF.

That's beyond disturbing. The good news is that you found it before it got worse, or even catastrophic. What's the plan for fixing it? Can the broken off bolt be drilled and easy-outed, then thread-chased or tapped/helicoiled for a new bolt? Makes you wonder how somebody could have screwed that up so badly and then not cared what might happen later.

I'm buying the parts I think I'll need right now. New bracket, all the mounting hardware, belts etc. I'll try to find some time to get the compressor off the bracket tomorrow so I can take the bracket off the block and see if any damage has been done. I'll probably have to easy out the remains of that bolt.

Time to invest in a right angle drill. The wear on the upper pan isn't very deep and it's just the upper pan, I think I'm good there. Getting those bolts drilled for easy outs is not going to be a good time though. Was my car built on a Monday, or was work done here improperly... We may never know.

Edit: holy shit I was able to spin them with a tiny flathead and they all came out. Lucky break!

Yeah!!!!!!!!! You might be the luckiest guy on this site! So happy for you! Good thing you tried the flathead screwdriver before investing in a right-angle drill. Congratulations -- you're well on your way to the resolution.
