I’m looking for some direction as I am stumped. I have a 2009 A6 (C6), 3.0SC engine, CCAA version, with Xenon directional headlights. In addition to the xenon bulbs there is another halogen bulb in the headlight, referred to as the dipped beam. Both of my dipped beam bulbs were burnt out, I replaced both of them. I did get hit by a deer on the driver’s side a month ago which damaged the left headlight, the main beam doesn’t work in that light, and I have replaced it with the $200 replacement bulb. Here are my questions:
1. How do I turn on the dipped beams?? I assumed they would turn on when the low beam is activated but they don’t. My main beam on the passenger side does change when I switch between high & low beam.
2. What will keep a main beam bulb from lighting up? I did replace the 5 amp fuses on both sides of the car which cover the headlight modules. One main beam lights, the other doesn’t. The DRL “eyelash” on the driver’s side does work as does the blinker & side light.
If anyone has any ideas as to what to check please treat me like a dummy and tell me.
Thank you in advance for your help.
