    Tranmission oil cooler leak

    My friend is an idiot he jacked up the trans cooler to replace the trans mount and i realized now its leaking. My question is now i need a trans cooler but when i remove it will a lot of atf fluid will gush out of there? Or just a little bit? Will i need to ad ATF fluid aftrr replacing ?

    Disconnect at the hoses and carefully lower it down to a catch pan to contain the mess. Put new back in place then pump fluid into the unit through 1 of the hoses. Once all back together bring up to temp and check fluid level to top it off. All together you will probably need about 1/2 quart of ZF ATF fluid.

    At least that is what is did when I pulled the engine / trans to do the timing chains.

    I really did not lose much fluid from the transmission or open lines when I removed it. But I knew that I was going to lose the volume of the cooler which is why I filled it before hand. Once I got it back attached and up to temp I did not lose any fluid from the fill plug which is why I topped it off at the fill plug.

    Well i barely lost any fluid tbh it was quite easy to replace.
