    128000KM car

P0321 00 Engine speed sensor (G28)- implausible signal
P0337 00 Crankshaft position sensor (G28) - Signal too low
    P0336 00 Crankshaft position sensor (G28) - Missing Tooth

Car limits itself to 3800rpm Max when i go wide open throttle. Take double the cranks to start up after sitting for more than 4hours. No cold start rattles at all.

has my time come? Time to do the timing chain replacement? No way to do chain tensioners on this car without dropping the engine? Damn really missing my N54.

Anyone who has experienced the same or already done their timing chains appreciate the comment. Thanks

I was getting P0016 and P0018 and tried replacing the crank sensor as well as swapping cam sensors and replacing the VVTs as well. No luck at all, wound up pulling the engine to replace all 4 chains. Labor is $3000 to $5000 USD depending on where you have it done. If you do it yourself then source the parts with ECS or FCP you can get the generic chains for less than OEM. The chains they sell are OEM without the OEM markup. Tensioners you are gonna have to buy OEM.

Thanks Valpo. i actually came across your thread on your timing chain replacement job. you did yours around 230,000 miles. mine is only at 80,000 miles..... Seems my codes are also different and all pointing to G28 sensor. guess ill try out the G28 replacement first and monitor.

I was at 204,XXX miles. You can try the crank sensor but I was told by a tech that the engine won’t run with a bad crank sensor.

Update on situation. Removed G28 crank sensor, found out plastics had turned brittle and the housing had cracked, allowing engine oil to spill into the electronics/connections inside. This create lots of random errors. Monitoring new sensor replacement, fingers crossed! hope that there is no need for timing chain work until 200,000 miles!
