It may also benefit to change the orings to Viton. Hopefully that would prevent them from disintegrating as well and be a more 'permanent' solution.

Yup, $15 and took less than 2 weeks. Now, theres 1 or 2 people on FB group that installed it, and only issue is the slot for the temp sensor clip is a little small. They rigged it up, but I wanna make it work correctly. So gonna order a sensor and clip, and see exactly what needs done. Also, there's some spots inside that could use some grinding for better flow. But for $15, its a cast aluminum flange that I can work with

Too bad IABED couldn't get one to market. Not sure what’s the deal but he was supposed to have a solution for the oil filter/cooler housing as well but it also seems to be vaporware. I mean you can kludge some parts together but he was supposed to have an elegant solution.

Yeah, there was a few attempts, but nothing ever came through. But this is a good option, and only $15! If iabed made one, it would prob have been heavier duty, but $100..

$15 chinesium vs overpriced VAG self destructing plastic… I wonder which one will last longer.

This is odd considering this is a dead platform and the newest car is over 14 years old..would thing it's a dead market for aftermarket providers. I think it's great though . Hope this thing doesn't corrode in that environment.

Its cast aluminum, sure it'll be fine. But, guess we'll find out. Worth a shot.

No. Will do its when I rebuild the engine. Hopefully in a month or so, I should be ready.. Mine isn't leaking, so no reason to mess with it now.

Just replaced my original flange on March 31 2023 with an original Genuine VW/AUDI part after 15 years for preventive maintenance even though it hasn't failed on me yet. Let's just say 'if' I do decide to keep my car for another 15 years (if lasts that long then car would be a record be 30 years old) so I'm not sure it'll benefit.

No need to change it, if yours isn't failing. Surprised your did, lol. Its just over the last 5-6 years ive had mine, and ill the coolant flange conversations, ive seen the question"is there any aluminum option" asked hundreds of times. Until now, there was no option, like for the b6. So now, there is an aluminum option. 1 or 2 people on here have even made one, but never produced more to sell. So nice to have that option.
And shortly after they were available on Aliexpress, ECS (in ecs fashion) had their logo put on them, and sell them now also. Just 4x the price. As more people install them, well see how they hold up, which should be fine. Any metal replacement for these shitty plastic parts Audi likes to use, is good in my book..

i would be more likely to think they let ECS do all the ground work with the design and specs and have them made in china .. then all of a sudden the Ali knock offs start appearing at greatly reduced pricing.

I put an ECS one in after rebuilding the engine. No issues with it so far.
