Interior auto dimming rear view mirror issue

My 2016 B8.5 has a standard rear view mirror with no compass or Auto dimming feature. I purchased an auto dimming rear view mirror for a 13-16 B8 off of eBay. The female connector on the mirror that I purchased is double the size(2x4) of the male connector(flat single row of connectors) that's on my current mirror. Has anyone running into this issue? Is my 2016 B8.5 mirror more similar to a 2017 auto dimming mirror? I'm stumped. Im holding off sending it back if i can find a work around. adapter etc. But im not feeling optimistic about it. I appreciate any help with this! ***I've been trying to find a way to delete this post after finding out what is needed to get this mirror to work with my car.***

Specifically discussing B8.5, as it's very different for B8.0, and for US market as RoW markets might have more extensive variations,

The G397 RLS and G355 humidity sensor is on the 3-pin plug. This is on all US B8.5. Pin 1 power, pin 2 ground, pin 3 LIN bus to the J519. This is regardless of manual dim or auto dim mirror. Leave this one alone.

The auto dim mirror has an 8-pin plug, 8K0 971 834. Pins 1 (power), 2 (ground), 3 (left reverse), 4 (dim signal 1), 5 (dim signal 2), 6 (overhead light) are used. You're going to have to add these wires to their appropriate destinations and the 8-pin plug that matches to the 8K0 971 834. (just ignore pins 4 and 5 if you're not also installing auto-dimming side mirrors).

Easier to get a pre-made harness.

If you add the 8-pin harness and get an auto-dimming mirror, is it possible to use VCDS to add auto-highbeams?

HBA requires a camera system mirror mount. Can retrofit HBA be done? Sure, there's probably threads out there on it. Is it as simple as I think you might be hoping? Doubtful.
