Might Have to Sell my SQ5, How much should I ask for?

    Hey all,

Sadly I might have to sell my 2017 SQ5. I have loved having it, but my wife and I need something with more space for 2 kids and a dog.

It is Nardo Grey with the Black Optics package. It has around 55,000 miles. I’d sell it with 2 sets of tires. The original summer tires (close to their end) and a 1 year old set of all seasons. It is completely stock, with the exception of an RSNAV S4 unit that I installed over the summer. The car is in great shape and looks brand new. The original owner had paint protective film installed on the hood and front bumber. Wheels are good with a little bit of curb rash.

I have been playing around with KBB and some of the other online pricing tools, but they all seem to price the car way too low. Would anyone recommend what I should consider selling it for? I’m not in a rush, so I can take my time and wait for the right price.

    Thanks!

I tried adding some pics. Hopefully they posted correctly.

A 2-owner vehicle with 55,000 miles, $30,000 as a private seller sounds about right. You can ask $32,000 and work your way down if you are open to the buyer negotiating.

Thanks for the response. KBB private party value was closer to 34-35. Im surprised to here you say a lower number. Is the Nardo Grey and Black Optics not worth a premium over the normal market price?

no less than 35k imo. great options plus a rsnav is a sweet vehicle. If I didn't already dump my life into my 14 Sq5 I'd be on this like white on rice. Also please add more pics like full engine and interior

55k is one of the maintenance intervals, are you current? That will affect the price a couple grand either way, so you'll want to disclose that.

Car prices are weird right now, and the increasing loan interest rates seems to be having a slight downward pressure on them.

Is this a Premium Plus or Prestige trim?

    Thanks everyone for the response.

It’s all up to date on maintenance. I even asked my mechanic about the common PCV issue and he said he’s well aware of that issue with the 3.0T engine, but mine isn’t showing any of the usual symptoms.

I don’t know if it’s prestige or premium plus. How do I find out? It seems to be well optioned.

    Posted a few more pics.

This is about right, the market for Audi's is soft right now. I just bought a 2016 SQ5 one owner with 40K, for $30K.

It is a buyers market, not a sellers. Good luck.

'Soft' compared to what? I'd argue that the entire used car (and motorcycle and house) market has been pretty strong for a couple years.

Off-warranty Euro brands have traditionally been very soft, with high depreciation rates due to anticipated frequent and expensive repairs, but now we're almost seeing appreciation due to inflation.

In March 2019, right before Covid nailed the economy, I bought a pristine 2015 SQ5 with 55k miles, for $25k. Today I have 90k and I could probably sell it for $25k, maybe more. I'd call that a strong market, comparing like for like.

Then again, the Jeep SRT's I was also shopping for have gone from $38k to $50k. The Porsched Cayennes went from $22k to $30k. Compared to that sort of appreciation, the Audi market is indeed soft.

I'll say this much: Ask more than you think you'll get. You can always lower your price.

Just to add my $.02 - I would have paid a little more (1k-1500?) for Nardo.

    Beautiful car, GLWS!

I have a 2013 Q5 3.0T S Line Premium Plus Trim with 70K, got it for $18,500 before tax at my local Audi dealership. Ever since last year I have been getting trade in offers from them and they are willing to pay me $14,750 and get into a 2023 Q5 45 2.0T. Completely, stunned by the offer, but just couldn't let go of the supercharger setup.

Dealers are having trouble moving new cars, in the news today, new car loan rates are at a 14 year high. You did very well on your 2013 SQ5 purchase.

I have had the 2.0 in a 2014 A4, nice engine, but the 3.0T is just super. I can see why you didn't take that deal.
