Question New 2023 Q5 Sportback - not binding user to the car key

Just took delivery of a Q5 SB last night and started customizing all the features. There are two of us driving so I programmed all my settings with my key, then got the second key and programmed a second user & settings with that key. No matter which of us starts the car, every time the car starts up it asks me to choose a user.

I thought the whole point of the settings being associated with the individual car key was to automatically set the MMI as that user?

Is the 1st key within range of the car when starting up? Maybe that's causing it to revert back to key 1 and ignore key 2?

No idea, just spit-ballzing it here

Nah, I left the first car key in the kitchen while going in the garage with the second one.

'22 Q5 here--the screen asks me to confirm the user it detected based on the key used to unlock, and displays that name, each time it starts. Moves the seat, selects the last radio and HVAC settings, etc. You can ignore the selection button if it's the right user.

My car asks me to confirm the driver every time.

Is it asking to confirm the correct driver when that key is present?

So mine is sticking to the same driver as last set, no matter which key is used.

For example. I drive the car, so I set to me, Driver A. Then if my husband takes his key and gets in the car, it's still set to me, Driver A. He has to choose Driver B, which it will then stay logged in as until I get in the car and switch it back over to me, Driver A.

Are you unlocking with that key? That's when the user is recognized.

Yep, we were making sure we were locking/unlocking with the individual user's key. My Audi Advanced Key door handles are DOA, so we're forced to use the key fobs right now.

So what we ended up doing to resolve this was deleting him as a second user, then recreating him. That seems to have kicked it into switching profiles when the individual's key is used.
