Qs about buying a Q7 for towing

Hey all, looking to buy a 4L Q7 to tow my S4 to the track. From what I've read, air suspension makes a world of difference and includes some automatic weight distribution functionality. My problem is when reading through the various classifieds, I can't find really any with air suspension, or at least not mentioned in the ad.

    Questions.

Is the tow package or air suspension standard in any trim? Or are they both a purely a la carte?

I've only been looking at 3.0Ts, are these options more common on diesels? A specific trim of diesels?

I've seen video of a Q7 with an electronically controlled hitch, was this offered only during certain years? Can it be retrofitted?

Can all Q7s with Air Suspension be identified by the switch in the right rear of the vehicle? Or was this relocated in any year?

Lastly, does anyone know the PR codes for the two package & air suspension?

    Thanks fellas!

Air suspension is part of the Adaptive Chassis package. PR code 1BK for 4 corner air suspension, according to my build sticker and the decoder on planetvag.com

Edit: just saw you're talking about a 4L not 4M. Maybe the same?

Thanks. Adaptive Chassis may be a recent package, but the PR code seems correct. Although maybe 2MB also.

So only available to S Line Prestige? That should help narrow my search.

It was actually a stand alone option, even prestige models had to option it. S-Line was not a requirement to get air. Typically it came on higher optioned models such as the S-Line but you could order air with none S-Line cars.

Electronic hitches are a euro only option and does not apply to NA cars. Visually the only hint of air is the aforementioned switch in the boot area on the right.

The car can be retro fitted with a factory hitch but the factory installed hitches came with a larger fan for higher cooling capacity and the 4pin connector in the car comes with an extra brake pin activated. Having the factory towing will also allow the backup radar to be disabled when tow mode is enabled. It will also disable side alert when towing so that the car doesn't think something is in your blind spot.

All in I'd say keep searching as they're fairly rare but they are out there.
Life has taught me never try to make something idiot proof, they'll simply come up with a better idiot.
I'd agree with you but then we'd both be wrong.
I have neither the time, nor the crayons to explain this to you properly.
