Revision to FCP Euro's Lifetime Gurantee

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I'm sure many of you are aware of the changes made to FCP Euro's Lifetime Warranty. I think FCP Euro made the right decision from a business perspective while attempting to maintain their existing clientele. Yesterday, 10/31/22 was the last day to submit orders to be grandfathered into their original plan where you get refunds back to your original source of payment. In a nutshell, going forward, all new orders placed on 11/1/22, onward will only get back store credit when using the Lifetime Warranty. What are your thoughts on this?

Not really sure. I just got an oil kit from them right before the deadline. Paypal is also doing away with return shipping. So I'll probably end that after this oil change. Otherwise, the car is old enough and has enough miles that whatever replacement parts I put on - will probably be the last time I touch them. So no need for the warranty. Only ever used it for a failed part once, but it was an immediate failure, so any warranty would have covered it.

So it means they will issue you credit for the returned item and when you go to buy the next item (oil change kit for example), you will use the credit to make the purchase, right? So you still don't have to pay any extra money for the item because you will pay for it with the credit. I don't see the real difference, unless the price keeps increasing which will cause you to have to pay a little more each time but only get credited (when you return the used/broken item) at the lower price that you purchased it at. Make sense? Yes or no???

It's a difference of store credit vs cash.

Correct, it really depends how you see it. For me, it makes no difference since all of my purchases with them have been prior to November 1st. I'm all set and grandfathered into the old plan unless I need to place a new order for something else not ordered before in the past.

One thing that upsets me about it is all the parts I bought last year and year before that I feel will really only be replaced maybe twice in its lifetime. Instead of paying the cost once and getting the refund after you have to pay for the product twice before you get store credit that can now cover the part 3+ times. It makes total sense with the used oil return, which I don’t mind the changes, but getting back store credit versus cash means I can’t use the money until I purchase a third item from FCP Euro.

It should be called lifetime replacement guarantee after the 2nd purchase.

Otherwise a lifetime guarantee after the 2nd purchase still is better than nothing.

    ^^^This

Just returned 7 liters of oil and filter, yesterday. $21.00. But, I had to purchase before I could fill out the return form. I change oil every 3000 miles so this works out very good.

This year I had to file a claim with UPS two times because FCP claimed they never got my oil back in order to process a refund

I got my refund too from my most recent warranty return but 2 out of 3 warranty refunds had to be processed via UPS Insurance earlier this year.

I actually had a situation where I returned my used oil at the end of December last year and they didn’t give me the in store credit until mid February

Odd, I wonder if there was some backlog, but when I contacted their CS team, they informed that no one with that name (as per the UPS signature) worked at their docks, that's when I was able to determine that UPS delivered the package to the wrong recipient
