** Removing electric seats without electric power...?

I just bought a "semi-project" B8 A4 (2011). It has the mystery "water leaking into the carpets" syndrome which I'm trying to fix.
So far, the headliner needed replacing anyway, so I pulled that. All 4 sunroof drains and tubes seem fine, with no signs of leaks. I WILL seal them up anyway before reassembly. From my reading, the next place to look is the bungs in the very bottom of the unibody. (I'll probably check under the hood, in that "cowl"(?) area too. There IS also lots of evidence of a lot of water (at some earlier point) was in the very rear left compartment in the trunk where the (audio?) electronics live.

**Either way, I need to get the driver's seat out to get to enough of the wet carpet. But there seems to be no chance of "normally" powering up the seat so I can move it forward and backward to get to the seat frame mounting bolts. SO, it looks like there are 4 bigger bolts in the seat corners that mount it to the frame. Could I remove the back two, loosen up the front 2, tip just the seat itself forward to at least get to the harness below the seat, etc.? Someone then suggested just hitting the motor itself with 12 volts to "manually" move it forward and backward? -- THEN I should be able to get to the seat rail mounting bolts, right? I've been searching through the posts, but no dice so far...

I promise I will post any photos, etc. when I find the solutions to both the water problem and the seat removal problem too....

    Any ideas, folks.....? -THX

The Audi repair manual talks about this. Go to erwin.audiusa.com and pay for the day....you can download all the .pdfs for this car. If this car is a project, it will come in very hand.

I’m kind of stuck in a similar situation, I did an s4 super sport seat retrofit in my a4 and the seats stopped working I’m assuming it’s C.P. because I didn’t swap the harnesses lol.

Anyways long story short, you can manually move the seat forward and back by connecting the positive and negative pins from a 12-18v portable drill battery (I used my 18v ryobi drill battery) with two wires taped to it to the main power and ground pins on the red harness.

Easiest way to do this, find the red harness located underneath the seat, red will be the power seat/lumbar function, I think green is heated seats and yellow is airbag. Now take a paper clip or some sort of needle like object and stick it inside the brown pin and red with black stripe pins. Connect the positive lead to the red/black pin and the negative to the ground and it should provide power to your switch to move the seat forward and back.

    Hopefully that helps!
