Previously I owned a 2008 C6. It was a extra car and always garaged. I seldom washed it. Wouldn’t drive in the rain so maybe 3 full washings a year. The wheels would get more frequent washings usually every couple of weeks depending. I would use the California duster after every drive and weekly apply a Sonus GLANZ OVER THE MANY COATS OF the Klasse sealant. This went on for 12 years.
My background is I was a Transfer truck driver for 35 years. Took pride in my nice ride and would spend a lot of time wiping the whole unit down often.
I am doing the same thing with the 2017 S3. It is my only car now so the task is harder being driven everyday. Same routine as the C6. Wife thinks I am nuts. For me it is about pride of ownership. Being retired it gives me something to obsess over. We have been in a drought now for a few years so not much winter rain in California. It drives me nuts in winter knowing the car will be dirty for any length of time. The windows are cleaned daily at least once.
Others with the same infliction….looking back I think the big rig cleaning started it all. The hours spent detailing are enormous. Something about getting in a valved car and feeling like it is new, even many miles later. I love the feeling every time behind the wheel.
