I want to add that it is we, not the EVers, who are truly "going green" by keeping these old cars going. "EVs are greener" is a no-brainer, right? But in 8-10 years when they all need battery swaps that will cost more than the cars will be worth, so the majority of owners will junk them and buy new EVs.

Every one of those new EVs will take as much energy to manufacture as a typical IC car uses in fuel over its entire lifespan.

Its worth it if your doing the work yourself. If your not, cut your losses and get out while you still can. That being said newer cars are designed to be disposable they don't make em like this anymore.

Remember Obama's "cash for clunkers" program, intended to reward the UAW autoworkers union? Lots of usable cars were scrapped due to this government miscalculation, which incidentally increased the sales of Japanese cars. But the gov't no doubt took note of the Japanese government's handling of older cars, which I understand to be that registration feel go up, not down, as the car ages to encourage disposal and consumption of new cars.

EV batteries: Don't the Chinese benefit greatly from EV production? Lithium mines and rare-earth elements for motor magnets come to mind.

Lots of usable cars were scrapped due to this government miscalculation, which incidentally increased the sales of Japanese cars. Cash for clunkers was by far one of the worst ideas. I saw ton a pretty nice cars get destroyed just so the someone can get put into a brand new piece of shit kia. I saw benzes, audi 90 coupes, among other get destroyed for a fucking shitty kia,

Then said he was as shocked as everyone else: "I just saw that on TV, like everybody"! Then they publicly fired an Air Force guy working in the White House basement offices, saying that he was responsible for the whole damn thing. But I digress. They call Trump a would-be dictator - the other guy demanded the CEOs of Ford, Chrysler, and GM get their asses to Washington DC immediately, and "don't come by your corporate jets". And "don't go to Las Vegas afterwards either". Then he had them fire a bunch of non-union Engineers and increase the pay of the unionized line workers.
