Dimming virtual cockpit, interior lights out + battery issues!

2017 S3, new battery (second one) installed today. Started my car regularly today and noticed that the virtual cockpit and MMI screen was dimmed, like it was adjusted to the lowest setting. I used the knob brightness to adjust it but it was already at max level. Next thing was my sun visor light was also out, trunk, and even my door sills. Later on the day after work, I scanned the car via OBD11 for faults. Found a few faults in the 'Gateway' and 'Central Electronics' section. As for the battery issue, the vehicle does not charge when idling but can when the seat heater is turned on. Another issue is that the seat heater does not heat both the driver nor passenger seats. The weird thing was that when sliding the shade for the visor over, the trunk open image on the cluster would pop up showing the trunk open when it was not! I also checked the fuses under the driver kick panel, all fuses were good. God, this car is cursed!!

Your Component protection is activ, thats why half of the things doesn't work.Maybe ignition on while changing the battery?Did you try erasing the faults?

Yes, I tried clearing the faults but the gateway fault stays there. Ignition was off.

I also need to mention that when I was removing the battery to get to the DSG filter. Putting it back the negative terminal was touching when I was adding the positive side, so that made a spark. I don’t know if they would have any adverse affect. The car was fine after though. Could it be the battery management sensor on the negative terminal? Accessory Relay? The map light turns on but it’s faintly dim (had LED installed).

You could try disconnect the battery and wait for an hour and reconnect it.Otherwise you need someone with ODIS to remove the component protection.

Okay, I took the negative (-) terminal off the battery and will let it sit for a couple of hours.

Damned. Then the only thing left is to go to the dealer or you know someone with an ODIS program and online access.

My car was at the dealer for a month (mostly waiting for parts). I just got it back and they replaced a module for the interior lights.
