    DS1 for our platform?

Just saw a post where someone discussed that DS1 might be coming (@aldermantofee, looking at you) but didn't want to hijack that thread.

The tuning platform looks really promising and I wouldn't mind switching for the level of freedom and control it offers, a long with the option for using more niche tuners. I tried looking around to see if there are any announcements for our platform but couldn't find any. Is this really coming?

It's in the works for sure. I too am excited for it because of the control it'll offer (most importantly true flex fuel tuning)

Im keeping my eyes out for it as well, although I miss the flexibility of using HPTuners or SCT on domestic vehicles, and may either switch back, or get a RS7 or M5 where I will be satisfied with just a flash, downpipes and E85 so I wont need to tinker.

haha it was your post I saw it in. The idea of opening up the doors for custom tuning seems like it'd really up our platform's potential. Coming from Cobb accessport, the tuning solutions offered for the B9 platform is abysmal. and let's be real, there really never is a "satisfied" when it comes to modding cars

    Hello, yes, I’ve been summoned.

John has been posting a few updates regarding MG1 every now and then in the various DS1 groups on Facebook.

As far as I’m aware John is currently moving house. I’ll be very happy if it’s released by EOY but I think 2023 is more likely.

    Notes:
    - Not interchangeable with existing DS1 units, the MG1 requires new hardware
    - It won’t support custom code (to begin with at least)
    - It will likely support flex fuel
    - It will support custom maps
    - Can’t comment on the high speed data logger aspect of it
    - They’ve had flashing working for a while now and it is very quick

From what I recall they’re essentially going to release a DS1 that is capable of custom tuning along with flex fuel support and then progressively add more functionality over time. This means it’s unlikely that the DS1 will come with base maps for various stages unlike the other platforms.

If you’re lucky John might reply, I believe he mooches over this forum every now and then. He commented on a few posts back when the EPL debacle happened at least.

Oh, I believe real-time tuning won’t be present to begin with either.

This car is the first ive really gone crazy on in about 8 years. Prior to this I had a M5 Competition with a flash, M3 with a flash, 550i with downpipes, exhaust and flash, X5 50i with downpipes exhaust and flash, and another X5 50i with flash only. All those twin turbo cars really move out with just a flash, especially the V8s. Prior to that, I had some projects with a BMW 335i that I did Stage 1 turbo, downpipe, exhaust, methanol and E30, a tundra with a supercharger, then lots of 700+ HP domestics. I dont race a ton anymore (this is the first car since 2010 ive taken down the 1/4 mile) and just enjoy spirited blasts on the highways here and there.
