    Luggage cover in my Avant

Ok stupid question but I can't shake the thought so I have to ask, and yes I Google it first.
I bought this 2002 A4 Quatrro Avant 1 8t from a buddies Father. The same night he and I removed the massive luggage cover or whatever its called so I could pickup family at airport.
The luggage cover was thrown away by God knows who.
Anyway I can't shake the idea that it was structural, like a strut brace or something.

I know its Ludacris but the thing weighed 1/4ton it had to serve more purpose then just being a MFer to remove.

Anyway I had to get the stupid question out of my system

I'm guessing the cover is made like that so in the event of crash, including roll-over, what's in that compartment won't become projectiles all over the cabin. That's a danger in the Avant that's absent in a sedan. I'd just be ripping mad about it getting thrown out.

That's funny, I might be parting out much of the interior of my B6 Avant in the near future. This would be one part to go. Going to do some evaluating this weekend to see if this thing is going to be a good candidate for some weird SCCA STU-class fun. Once I tear into it, there's no going back, so if it's ever sold, it'll be sold as either a full race car, or a basically-ruined runner.

If you end up wanting one, I'll probably make a post in here letting people know I'll have stuff available. If you use car seats for kids, the rear of the car seat clips into a hoop on this part, so it is structural in the sense that it helps hold child car seats in place.
