    Winter tire setup?

Thinking I’m going to a dedicated Winter tire. I’m in PNW so a lot of rain, a fair bit of ice and a little bit of snow are usually pretty standard. I considered doing this last year and didn’t then really regretted it.

So what do you guys like for a dedicated winter tire? Severe snow service rated is important as well.

Was considering Vredestein Quadtrac Pro. Technically it’s an all season but it’s snow service rated, and supposedly excellent in the wet and still decent on ice and snow.

I live in the Northeast, have always run a dedicated winter set-up with a specific winter tire for years (Blizzak, X-ice/Alpin), on many different cars. Did the same on my previous A6 and will not do it again. The AWD system on these cars are phenomenal, coupled with the weight of these saloons, you really only need a quality A/S. Performance winter tires are still horrid comparatively for their stopping distances and handling; with a high-performance vehicle, I prefer to keep these characteristics in the winter. (assuming you also own a RS S7/6/8)

I run Conti DWS06's on my winter wheels and they do really well in all winter conditions. If you are set on the severe snow service rating, I would think any of the tires that have the rating will be a great option

I've always ran all seasons, continental dws or michelin a/s. MattyMarkey is right, with quattro and all seasons my audis were more than capable in the Northeast. I just picked up some Vredestein Wintrac Pros. Will install this weekend and see how it goes this winter in the Rockies.

The latest tests show the Michelin as4 and the dws06 plus being highly capable and great all seasons. Which as mentioned above on these vehicles with their great AWD systems going isn’t an issue (stopping is a different story).

If you want specifically snow/winter tires then Michelin x ice snow or continental Viking contact 7

Nokian Hakka's or Bridgestone Blizzak are a great winter tire.

I have run multiple Audi's over the years and enjoy "playing" in the snow with them. I have tried high quality all seasons, and nothing compares to a proper snow tire when you are sliding the car. (albeit on purpose in some cases)
