    No Reverse Gear CVT Transmission

    Hi all I have bought 2011 A4 with timing issue and got it fixed but when I started car it won't move when put in reverse puting it in D it moves forward, scaned no codes not shore what can be problem low oil maybe or burnt transmission. Thanks for any help

    Drained the oil from transmission it stinks its burned black plastic pieces in oil it looks like I will need new transmission,

    Looks like classic misconception of "life-time-transmission fluid" by previous owner(s).

    I bet that if they had treated the transmission fluid as "life-time", then there might be other maintenance areas that they overlooked as well.

    Yeah you gotta change the CVT fluid every 40k miles.

    I guess the good thing is a used B8 CVT can be sourced for less than $1000. But that's a lot of labor, might be worth doing a RMS while you're there. I've heard very little chatter on failed B8 CVTs. I know people hate it, and it's sacrilege to have a longitudinally mounted engine setup for quattro, just to go for FWD, but oh well.

    Nothing worse than a poorly maintained B8.
