Suggestions for adhesive for outer brake pads

So our OEM pads have some adhesive on the backs of the outer pads to hold them in place. I installed Akebonos on the front and may be doing the rears at some point in the near future.

Since aftermarket pads don't come with the adhesive, I have slight rattle over bumps from the pads, since the only thing holding them in place is that little circular cutout on the outer pad/caliper. I lubed up the backs of the pads and contact points pretty well on install which unfortunately didn't make a difference. Overall not a big deal just a little annoying.

Has anyone used anything to completely secure the outer pads in place? 3M double sided tape or something else? I've read some people have had success with using disc brake quiet (since it hardens) but others haven't.

    Any thoughts would be appreciated!

I wonder if that's why I have a lot of noise when the front hits a bump. I noticed the same of the pad plate when I switched from OEM to Akebono. Hell, the backing plate on my left outer wasn't even secured to the pad material. But it's the right side that "clanks". I like the neutral dust color; but I'd rather wash my wheels more often than listen to that racket every day.

I’m surprised more people haven’t mentioned it. The outer pads have a good amount of play when they’re not glued to the caliper.

For me it’s on sharp bumps, super bumpy sections of LA roads, and even lane reflectors. And it obviously doesn’t happen if I have my foot on the brakes.

I am dealing with a similar issue on the S4 in that a "clunk" is heard when applying the brakes when coming to a stop in reverse. I had this brake job done by an indy import mechanic and he assured me it was not needed ... it was.

Maybe the disc brake quiet is the best bet then. Forgot what threads I read but it looked like ppl had mixed results. I used ATE plastilube when I installed.

Can you/should you goop that stuff on pretty liberally (within reason)? Just want to make sure if I take my front brakes off again that I get it right and it really sticks the pad on there.

    Thanks for the feedback yall

Use just a little, otherwise it will ooze out from the edges, and make a mess.

Why an Amazon link using es? Anyway, is this stuff a vibration buffer or an adhesive? I don't think a backing buffer is going to help with the clank scenarios I have.

ATE seems to have something more in line with the Audi OE scenario: https://www.ate-info.de/en/details/p...lag-klebefolie

Though I still have the issue that the backing plate is not even secured to the pad on the outer I put on the left. Probably should have made Akebono replace it.

My Amazon app is now in Spanish

I don’t think it’s actually an adhesive, just dries and hardens into one. Which I imagine could be why not everyone has had the issue resolved with brake quiet but I think it’s worth a shot
