My 2011 Audi A4 starts and runs fine but I am getting a yellow key with a slash through it warning light on the dash. What does this mean? When I try to look up this exact warning light it doesn't seem to be listed.

Isn't that the no key detected icon? For advanced key. Maybe the key fob battery is really low.

I did swap the key for the spare today so we'll see if that makes a difference. This is my wife's car so it doesn't get driven much but the keys are the original ones that came with it in 2011. That means the batteries are 11 years old. The spare one has never been used before though. Can you change the batteries yourself or does the dealer have to do it for programming issues?

I was thinking that as well but if that were the case I'm surprised the car started and ran,

Depends on where the fob is. When the battery is low, I have to turn my right side towards the car to get the tailgate to open because if I lean forward with my left side, the fob is too far away to be picked up.

Yeah, just remove the mechanical key blade (button in the silver section) and then pull out the battery holder (look for a similar button in the now exposed black plastic). It's a 3V lithium, CR2032; a CR2025 works too if that's what you have on hand.

Though I'd wipe my finger grease off first. :-)

You need a new key fob battery. CR2032 battery size most likely
