Does the valve cover have to be removed to pull the cam solenoid, passenger side?
I can't find my flex extension to get that last valve cover bolt out.
I removed the only bolt I can feel at the solenoid.
Am I safe to start prying at it?

Thanks in advance for the help.
I am always amazed at the knowledge I find here.

You need the valve cover removed, top distribution cover, water pipe, secondary air valve, lambda, solenoid ring. Nasty job to do, i did driver side.
The bolts of the solenoid are behind the cover.

    Thank you again
What a pain in the ass.
Got that last bolt out so I could remove the cover.
    Now the real fun begins.

Is that third photo the drivers side cover? Just want to be sure I remove all the bolts.
    Yes this job sucks.

Driver side cover indeed, there is one bolt from the bottom in at the corner exhaust side.

Cover off, lamda out solenoid ring done,
Still baffled how to remove what appears to be a hard coolent line that runs along the back.
    No idea where it's connected.
It's blocking access to one of the bolts.
Sadly, I have to work 5 12-hour days this week so won't have a lot of time.
I did take a careful listen to the solenoid when hitting it with 12v.
Not sure if I could just hear it better because the cover was off or if I managed to free it up from the other day where I couldn't hear it moving.
    It makes an audible click.
I believe it's fine and that my adjuster has likely rounded out.

    Bad news.
I don't really have a choice but to pull the motor.
The previous owner had the chains done and several of the torques look rounded off.
I couldn't understand why the bits wouldn't seat properly until I dug out a mirror.
Engine in I have no way to hammer a bit into place.
A tow truck can't get in to the parkade either.
I know I can do the job, but the building owner will lose his shit if he sees the motor out. :)

Ugh. Best wishes for everything else to go smoothly
I'm still listening for that rattle!
If it rattles, it's because I baby it.

I had one or two bolts who where very tight and had no strength enough to loosen them up with 2 fingers, i used a long chisel to tap them at the edge.
    Had to replace some bolts.

Finally got around to pulling the engine.
Found the reason for my misfires.
Rebuilt both cam adjusters since the engine is out.
My RS4 chains and guides are still going strong.
Really Really regret not doing the adjusters at the same time.
