TTRS Mag Ride vs Fixed Suspension (Anyone tried both and can lend a perspective?)

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I know this has been covered in some other threads, but most are old and the people on them hadn't actually tried both suspensions out. There's a TTRS that checks a lot of boxes for me, but it has the fixed suspension. I live in ATL, where the roads aren't great. I was planning to go for a car with magride for the comfort (not planning on tracking the car much if at all), but I don't want to pass this one up if the consensus is the fixed vs magride doesn't matter that much. Thanks in advance for your opinions!

once set to comfort, the MR suspensions are surely softer than OEM fixed ones

I had both in sperate TTRS's, just avoid the mag ride...its sucks. I wish I coold have the fixed again. And the magride doesn't offer more comfort, if anything its more clunky, bottoms out, and has too much bounce at high speed ::thumbs down::

I would suggest that the only problem with the mag ride on the TT is, unlike Mercedes, a control unit that is dumber than a bag of rocks. Check out this thread for a more completely informed perspective.

The DSC or APR suspension computer is a great unit. There are several YouTube videos about the product.
    I'm glad I purchased mine.

My rs3 had fixed suspension and honestly I loved it, better than my mag ride in ttrs honestly. Felt it handled better and rode better, some of that may be the longer wheel base though. I had H&R springs(supposedly one of the worst riding) on rs3 too, vs now I have MSS Track (one of the better springs) also.

Good read, thanks brotha, this has to be my favorite part:

Look at this excellent article from Road & Track mentioned previously in a similar discussion, even the engineers that designed the car think this is the suspension to get: Driving the 2018 Audi TT RS With the Man Who Created It

Ill take a fixed any day

But since Im stuck with mag, Ill be doing the Apr unit.

One thing to note is that while the APR is cheaper, designed for end users and will be most probably easier to program, the DSC unit programming interface is designed for full on race engineers and thus will likely offer more programing flexibility. We will know more once APR releases its programing interface.
