Got 2 codes on new car!

Hi all, looking for some help if you don't mind
    Cars got 2 warning codes

    P2187 - bank 1 lean no signal/ no communication
P1531 - camshaft timing adjustment open circuit no signal/communication

Interesting that both are talking about no signal?

Mechanic had the bonnet open, lifted off the engine cover and the "timing solenoid" (think that's what it's called, will post a pic in a sec) is snapped, so I take it that is my problem with p1531?

As for p2187, does that suggest a part has failed there too?

I've only had the car 2 days, so I am not in the know about how the 2.0 tfsi drives but it feels absolutely superb so no sign there is anything wrong with the driveability
Any help or experience much appreciated, thank you

fix what you can see first then reassess . Btw that's an fsi engine not a TFSI.

trust me in Audi speak its an FSI see the space between t and and the FSI ? EA113

a TFSI engine in Audi speak is a different motor its an E888.

i know its pretty damn messed up .. you figure between Audi and VW they could have done a better job.

    So what's the difference?
    It's 147kw, 200bhp and has a turbo

So what's the difference between a T FSI and a TFSI?

Having looked it up, the "tfsi" was only from 2009 onwards?
    So seems like semantics?

Yes, 2.0tfsi is b8. Totally different engine, and lots of differences. B7 is 2.0T fsi.

Open signal codes have always been a broken wire or broken connector for me. Check your connections, make sure the purple locking clip is still inside of your retaining clips, and make sure the male ends of the wires are open and seated fully up into the connector. Reallllly carefully check them, it can save you lots of money on parts darts. Speaking from experience, easily could have saved me thousands over the years. I start there first now.

    Thank you
So this looks really obviously broken, the vvt valve?

    So probably my cause??

    https://imgbb.com/ZHZMZxB

Looking them up, they range from £20 to £100 - should you always buy the expensive one?

    Thanks again

Febi is a cheaper brand, may be ok. But even a used one like iceman said, they generally don't fail. But here's a link to them on FCP. Genuine-$175, pierburg-$75.

Ok thanks, I'm in Scotland though
Jeez if Febi is a cheap brand at £60, I dread to think what the £25 ones are like!
Having said that, there's not a lot to them to go wrong?
My one has physically snapped, which is odd

Most common failure is like yours, or seal goes, leaking oil into the connector. Febi will be better than an unbranded off ebay.. Just overall, they are a cheaper brand.

Yes. They get bumped when working under the hood, etc. Same with the hpfp pressure reg solenoid, see them cracked often. But more on the transverse car

Ok thank you - nice easy and obvious fix if that's the reason for one of my codes
Seems too good to be true though haha

Re the lean code with no signal, bank 1 - that would suggest another broken part, maybe the maf?

Id fix what ya know is broke first. Clear codes, and see what comes back. Surprisingly, ive seen timing issues cause pressure issues. Has ta do with hpfp pulse timing.
